Quarterly Newsletter - Winter 2016
Turkey sits at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, offering a
unique position to penetrate all markets in Central Asia, the CIS and the
Caucus. It offers established production
with 19 international vehicle manufacturers including Ford, Toyota, Renault,
Fiat, Chrysler, Honda, Hyundai, Peugeot, Man, Mercedes, Isuku and Mitsubishi.
Total automotive exports exceed all other traditional exports. Furthermore,
Turkey has been a member of the Customs Union Agreement with the European Union
since 1996.
In 2023, The Turkish Republic will celebrate its 100th
anniversary, and expects local production to reach 4 million units per year,
with 3 million units for the export market. To accomplish these goals, GOT
announced a special series of incentives specific to the automotive industry,
both for the OEMs and parts manufacturers, that will help the industry reach
these target levels. Some of the major
products imported are diesel and semi-diesel engines, body and parts for the
assembling industry, gear boxes, engine parts, tires, internal combustion
engines, steering wheels, brakes and servo brakes. Most industry leaders, such as Delphi and
Bosch have direct investments or JV partnerships with Turkish
manufacturers. Currently, there are 250
foreign investors in the parts industry. There are two major events planned in
2016 that benefit U.S. firms: Automotive
Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) will lead a trade mission to Turkey on
April 3-7, 2016, and there will be a U.S. Pavilion at the Automechanika
Istanbul show on April 7-10, 2016. To

Recreational Vehicle Industry Association Create
Opportunities for U.S. Companies to Expand Overseas
12/15/2015 by Marcus D. Jadotte, Assistant
Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Analysis
Earlier this month, I had the
pleasure of personally congratulating the Recreation Vehicle Industry
Association (RVIA) on its new Market Development Cooperator Program (MDCP)
award at the 2015 National RV Trade Show. MDCP Export Awards provide financial
and Commerce Department staff resources to trade associations and other
nonprofits for projects that will generate exports. RVIA’s award will help the
RV industry produce an estimated $336 million in U.S. exports to China, Japan
and South Korea over the next three years. Read more...
