Congratulations to Volvo Cars on establishing its first-ever plant in the United States. Volvo Cars’ decision to open a new $500 million facility in South Carolina is further proof that there has never been a better time to invest in the USA. The new factory will employ an estimated 2,000 workers during the first ten years.

Yesterday, Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and U.S. Ambassador to Sweden Mark Brzezinski met with Volvo President and CEO Håkan Samuelsson to congratulate him and offer the services of SelectUSA as the investment moves forward.

According to Volvo's press release, the company chose Berkeley County because of its "easy access to international ports and infrastructure, a well-trained labor force, attractive investment environment, and experience in the high tech manufacturing sector."

As President Obama stressed in his remarks at the 2015 SelectUSA Investment Summit, these same advantages and strengths are why companies from across the world are choosing locations all across the United States for their manufacturing plants, R&D centers, and export hubs.
