Dear Colleague,

Welcome to the Day 3 Briefing of our 2020 Virtual Spring Meetings newsletter.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Yesterday, Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva delivered her Curtain Raiser speech—Confronting the Crisis: Priorities for the Global Economy—ahead of the Spring Meetings next week. Listen to it here. Following the speech, she was interviewed live by Tom Keene, surveillance anchor and editor-at-large at Bloomberg.

CAN THE IMF BAIL OUT THE GLOBAL ECONOMY?

As governments around the world see their finances savaged by the pandemic, emerging economies are desperate for sources of funding. More countries are turning to the International Monetary Fund for support than at any point in its history. Against this backdrop, Managing Director Georgieva speaks with editor-in-chief of The Economist Zanny Minton Beddoes in a new podcast about whether the IMF can bail out the global economy. Listen to the 30-min conversation.
