UPCS-V NEWSLETTER | ISSUE 12 | OCTOBER 2019

Paving the Way for Success

Center of Excellence Logo

Inspection Standards and Data for Vouchers (ISDV) is proud to announce that we were selected as one of five areas across HUD to be included in the joint General Services Administration (GSA)/HUD Center of Excellence (CoE) initiative sponsored by The White House. The purpose of this initiative, spanning into 2020, is to accelerate the modernization of information technology (IT) across the federal government by leveraging private sector innovation and existing government services while centralizing best practices and expertise. By bringing the CoE model to ISDV, our team will receive dedicated support from GSA to accelerate the progress ISDV has made with UPCS-V’s data analytics. Stay tuned for updates as we embark upon this exciting journey!

Leadership Update

We would also like to announce the transition of the Real Estate Assessment Center’s (REAC’s) Deputy Assistant Secretary, DJ LaVoy, into his new role at the USDA. We thank DJ for his dedication and relentless support of the UPCS-V Program, and we welcome our new Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary, David Vargas.

David joins us from the General Services Administration (GSA). He has also served at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in multiple positions where he led the Federal government's initiative to develop a strategic approach for using information technology to support human capital management. David's career with HUD spans over 22 years, and he was previously the Deputy Assistant Secretary of REAC  before his tenure at GSA and OPM. We look forward to continuing our work under his leadership.

UPCS-V Inspections of Record 2016-Sept 2019

The ISDV team is continuously combing through our analytics to bring you valuable solutions rooted in data. As we expand our data capabilities, we are able to share detailed information that can assist with making decisions.

To the right, you'll see the number of inspections of record conducted during the UPCS-V Demonstration by month and year. We are able to assess the number of inspections conducted month by month for each calendar year and analyze the growth of our program.

Top 5 Observed Deficiencies - Inspectable Area: Bathroom

Further, we are able to drill down our inspections of record to defect type, highlighting the most common defects found within the bathroom.

This data can be revealed with just a few clicks and provides instant insight into the condition of housing stock.
