HRSA sent this bulletin at 04/29/2013 04:13 PM EDTThe National Center for Health Workforce Analysis is pleased to announce the release of its most recent publications: The U.S. Nursing Workforce: Trends in Supply and Education and Compendium of Federal Data Sources to Support Health Workforce Analysis.
The U.S. Nursing Workforce: Trends in Supply and Education presents data on the supply, distribution, and education/pipeline of the U.S. nursing workforce. Data and information are incorporated from various sources covering both the registered nurse (RN) and licensed practical/vocational nurse (LPN) workforces. The report is divided into two main sections: the first presents an overview and analysis of recent trends in the nurse supply, and the second presents current information on the pipeline for nursing (the production of new nurses) nationally and by state.
More information is available on the National Center’s website: http://bhpr.hrsa.gov/healthworkforce/reports/nursingworkforce/index.html.
Dr. Jen Nooney, lead author, will present findings from this report and the National Center’s nursing workforce agenda at our next Health Workforce Webinar, scheduled for May 14, 2013, at 2PM ET. Webinar details can be found at http://bhpr.hrsa.gov/healthworkforce/index.html.
The Compendium of Federal Data Sources to Support Health Workforce Analysis summarizes 19 federal data sources that can be used to support health workforce analysis. The Compendium is designed to help those interested in the health workforce understand how these sources (many of which were not established specifically to collect health workforce data) could be used for health workforce analysis. For each data source, this compendium provides the necessary details needed to understand the data source and its relevance to health workforce analysis.
The Compendium can be downloaded at: http://bhpr.hrsa.gov/healthworkforce/compendiumfederaldatasources.pdf
