HRSA’s dynamic series of events to celebrate National Rural Health Day (Thursday, November 21) continues this week. Visit HRSA’s National Rural Health Day Agenda webpage for a full schedule.
This year’s theme is “Advancing Maternal Health in Rural Communities.” HRSA will highlight the work of federal agencies, rural health care providers, and state and community-based organizations who are enhancing maternal health services through workforce training, hospital TA, telehealth initiatives, and flexible and innovative care coordination.

HRSA Seeks Health Official, Clinician Support for the National Advisory Council on the National Health Service Corps
HRSA is looking for members to join the National Advisory Council on the National Health Service Corps (learn more about the council on HRSA’s website). Your expertise and unique experiences can help address health care delivery needs in underserved areas. If you are a clinician or health official with a background in primary care, oral health, or mental/behavioral health, we invite you to apply. HRSA October In Brief
In October, HRSA took part in a ceremony honoring health care workers with a new postal stamp, participated in the National Residency Matching Program’s Transition to Residency conference, announced new awards to address the maternal health crisis as part of the Enhancing Maternal Health Initiative, and shared the retirement announcement of HIV/AIDS Bureau Associate Administrator Dr. Laura Cheever. New Data from the National Survey of Children’s Health Shed Light on Child Health
Last month, HRSA released the results of the 2023 National Survey of Children’s Health. Visit HRSA’s website for the data. Watch a video on HRSAtube to learn about the yearly survey — the largest national- and state-level survey on the health and health care needs of children under the age of 18, their families, and their communities. HRSA’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau funds and directs the survey, and the U.S. Census Bureau conducts it.
Marketplace Assister Microlearning
Marketplace Assister Microlearning is designed as an optional supplemental education resource for assisters. CMS developed short and interactive modules for assisters in Federally-facilitated Marketplaces (FFMs), including FFMs where the state performs plan management functions and State-based Marketplaces using the federal platform. CMS will periodically add Marketplace microlearning modules for assisters as relevant regulations, guidance, and policies are released. Visit CMS’ website to access the trainings and learn more.

Overview of Integrated Care Models, Structures, and Processes

Results from the 2023 National Survey on Drug Use and Health: Key Substance Use and Mental Health Indicators
SAMHSA released the 2023 National Survey on Drug Use and Health results, including two infographics highlighting overall findings and findings by race and ethnicity. The data showed that in the past year, 23% of adults had a mental illness, 3% of people misused opioids, and 32% of adolescents received mental health treatment.
