Over the two days, speakers from health centers and a Primary Care Association (thank you to those who participated!) and public and private sector CX experts offered inspiration and ideas. Deadline Reminder: FY 2025 BPR Non-Competing Continuation for April 1 Budget Period Starts
Budget Period Progress Report (BPR) submissions for Health Center Program award recipients with an April 1 budget period start date are due in EHBs by 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, November 1. Technical assistance (TA) materials are available on the BPR TA webpage.

A Transition in HRSA’s HIV/AIDS Bureau
HRSA recently announced that Dr. Laura Cheever, Associate Administrator of the HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB), will retire at the end of this calendar year after 25 years of federal service. Read the announcement in HAB’s recent bulletin.
HRSA’s September Roundup
Last month, HRSA took historic steps to modernize the nation’s organ transplant system; awarded new funding to launch or expand mental health and substance use disorder services at more than 400 health centers; presented at the National Academy of State Health Policy’s conference and visited Vanderbilt University’s Nursing Program; and much more. For Comment: Hazard Review: Wildland Fire Smoke Exposure Among Farmworkers and Other Outdoor Workers
CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health seeks comments on their draft hazard review. It provides a critical analysis and evaluation of scientific evidence related to the impact of occupational exposure to wildland fire smoke. It can drive the development of new, innovative controls to reduce outdoor worker exposures. Visit regulations.gov to see the draft and submit a comment before the deadline (Tuesday, November 12).

Supporting the Mental Health Needs of MSAWs of All Ages Amidst Extreme Heat
Join Farmworker Justice and Health Outreach Partners to learn about the effects of extreme heat and aging on the mental health of migratory and seasonal agricultural workers (MSAWs). Speakers will explore the intersection of environmental stressors and the aging process. They will focus on identifying and fostering resilience among MSAWs and explore how community health workers and enabling services can best support and recognize community strength and adaptability in the face of adversity. Preventing Cardiac Events through Cardiac Rehab Referral
Join us, and CDC, to learn about the value of cardiac rehabilitation — a medically-supervised lifestyle change intervention for patients with qualifying heart conditions and/or who undergo certain cardiac procedure. Speakers, including our own Dr. Asad Bandealy, will overview Million Hearts’ strategies for increasing participation in cardiac rehab. They will discuss physicians’ role in referrals and approaches primary care teams can take to facilitate program enrollment. El Dorado Community Health Centers will share their experience as well.

Million Hearts Hypertension in Pregnancy Action Forum
The Million Hearts Hypertension in Pregnancy Action Forum is a national collaborative for clinical, public health, and community-based partners to exchange best and promising practices, identify solutions to common obstacles, and share resources related to improving hypertension management for women during and after pregnancy. Supporting A Diverse Workforce Webinar Series
Join the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved’s (ACU) STAR² Center, in partnership with Health Partners on IPV + Exploitation and Migrant Clinicians Network, for a webinar series focused on the retention and recruitment of specific populations in the workforce. The series will feature subject matter experts on the workforce needs of individuals with a history of IPV, sexual violence, harassment, or other forms of trauma; those with lived experiences as MSAWs; and formerly incarcerated individuals. Final-Year Health Professional Students: Apply Now for Loan Repayment
Final-year students studying to become a physician, dentist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or certified nurse midwife can apply for the 2025 National Health Service Corps Students to Service Loan Repayment Program. HRSA will make awards of up to $120,000. An additional $40,000 supplement is available to physician and nurse midwife final-year students who commit to providing OB/GYN services in high-need areas. The National Center for Farmworker Health (NCFH) will host the inaugural Agricultural Worker Health Symposium from Tuesday, December 3, to Thursday, December 5, in Tampa, Florida. The symposium will explore the occupational health and safety risks agricultural workers face, including environmental, biological, and respiratory hazards.
