COVID-19 Survey Changes

Due to the conclusion of two HRSA-supported COVID-19 response programs and in the interest of reducing your reporting burden, we will remove two questions from the Health Center COVID-19 Survey beginning with the April 5 survey (for March data).

Removed questions:

  QUESTION

TOPIC

5-5a

Test kits received through the HRSA COVID-19 Testing Supply Program

6-6b

Oral antiviral medication received through the HRSA Health Center
  COVID-19 Therapeutics Program

The table uses the question numbers from the current survey. Look at the COVID-19 Data Collection Survey Tool User Guide for the exact language of the questions we are removing. We will update the User Guide ahead of when you will receive the next survey.

Health Center Program GeoCare Navigator

NEXT WEEK: UDS Mapper Sunsets

The Uniform Data System (UDS) Mapper will sunset next week. Once it does, it will automatically redirect you to the Health Center Program GeoCare Navigator.

The GeoCare Navigator is tailored to Health Center Program needs. It incorporates the necessary datasets that were in the UDS Mapper. Use it to:

  • Generate service area maps for applications or for change in scope requests.
  • Evaluate geographic reach, penetration, and growth of the Health Center Program and its relationship to other federally linked health resources.

An introductory video and user guide (PDF) and other helpful links are available under the “Resources” dropdown within the tool. We will release more training and documentation in the coming weeks. Submit questions via the BPHC Contact Form (Health Center Data and Research > HCP GeoCare Navigator).

TODAY: Relaunching Our PCHP Peer2Peer Community

The Health Center Program Community (HCPC) is an online platform for participants in specific BPHC programs to get timely updates, interact with other health centers, and access training and TA resources. Nearly a year ago, we introduced the Primary Care HIV Prevention (PCHP) Community (or “PCHP Community of Practice”) within the HCPC.

We’re relaunching this space as the PCHP Peer2Peer (P2P) Community: a virtual peer-to-peer space for PCHP awardees to ask each other questions and share promising practices and valuable lessons learned in implementing their HIV prevention programs. Join our webinar to learn more:

Safety Program for Telemedicine: Improving Antibiotic Use

Join a free program to implement best practices in antibiotic stewardship in telemedicine. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s 18-month program begins in June. Participants in a similar program saw a 9% decrease in antibiotic prescribing overall and a 15% decrease for acute respiratory infections. Visit the program website to join or sign up for an informational webinar.

USDA’s Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program brings together stakeholders from various parts of the food and health care systems. They invite applications for funding to support and evaluate projects intended to increase the purchase of fruits and vegetables by providing incentives at the point of purchase among income eligible consumers. Read about the funding announcement on USDA’s website.

Racial and Ethnic Differences in Social Determinants of Health and Health-Related Social Needs Among Adults

CDC found that social isolation or loneliness and lack of social and emotional support were the most commonly reported measures among U.S. adults. Prevalence estimates for adverse social determinants of health (SDOH) and health-related social needs were significantly higher for most racial and ethnic groups than for non-Hispanic White adults. Read CDC’s report.

Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Promoting Colorectal Cancer Screening Among Agricultural Workers

Migratory and seasonal agricultural workers (MSAWs) face unique barriers to accessing colorectal cancer screening, a key preventive measure that can save lives by detecting cancer early when it’s most treatable. MHP Salud’s comprehensive tool answers general questions about colorectal cancer and available screening tools. It provides an evidence-based curriculum that health centers can use to boost screening rates among MSAW populations in their services areas.

MHP Salud also invites health center staff to join their related learning collaborative, “Improving Colorectal Cancer Screening in Agricultural Worker Communities.” You’ll learn about the barriers and the tool mentioned in the previous paragraph. You’ll also learn about the role community health workers can play in boosting screenings. Find out more on the registration page.
