NTTAP Forum
Representatives from all 22 NTTAPs attended a recent two-day forum at HRSA headquarters. The first day focused on priorities shared by BPHC and the NTTAPs. The second day focused on lessons learned from past collaborations, the needs assessment, and ideas for future collaborations.
ECV Award: Final Report Will Be Available March 1
Health centers using Expanding COVID-19 Vaccination (ECV) funding must submit a final program report to us by Saturday, March 30. (If you received a project period extension, your deadline will be extended accordingly. The final report is due 90 days after the project period end date.) The report will be available in HRSA’s Electronic Handbooks beginning Friday, March 1.
We will soon share technical assistance (TA) resources on the ECV TA webpage to help you understand what is expected in this report. We will also hold a TA session so you can get answers. Look for announcements about these resources and opportunities in future Digest issues.
If your health center needs more time to complete approved ECV award activities, contact your Grants Management Specialist or Investment Oversight Advisor as soon as possible.
THURSDAY: UDS Office Hours to Help You Meet February 15 Deadline
We want to make sure you can submit your complete 2023 UDS report by Thursday, February 15. Join one or both of our office hours for help preparing your health center’s submission. Connect with experts to get answers, tips, personalized guidance, and assistance troubleshooting.
The sessions will focus on standard UDS reporting — not on UDS+. Submit your questions on standard reporting during your registration. Submit questions about UDS+ via the BPHC Contact Form (UDS Modernization > Patient-level Submission (UDS+)).

HRSA’s December Round-up
Last month, HRSA joined a White House maternal health roundtable; commemorated World AIDS Day; participated in a roundtable with leaders from 30 states on the health care workforce; recognized the graduation of the first class of Health Equity Fellows and the latest class of HRSA Scholars; and congratulated HIV/AIDS Bureau Chief Dr. Laura Cheever for receiving the 2023 Beyond AIDS Foundation Nettie Award. Sign Up for Inflation Reduction Act Catalytic Program Sessions
The HHS Office of Climate Change and Health Equity will launch its "catalytic program" in January. It will support health care organizations, including health centers, in taking advantage of the tax credits, grants, and other supports made available by the historic Inflation Reduction Act. Identifying and Managing Recovery Pathway Bias in Peer Support
The substance use treatment workforce, traditionally dominated by experienced individuals, is now attracting people in recovery. Peer support specialists and recovery coaches provide crucial support. However, biases can impact professional ethics and care quality. Presented by HRSA's contractor, JBS International, Inc., this webinar will discuss ethical considerations and strategies for managing bias. 1.0 CE is available.

FY 2024 AIDS Education and Training Centers Program Notices of Funding Opportunities
The AIDS Education and Training Centers (AETC) Program consists of a network of HIV experts who collaborate to increase and support a workforce to provide care and treatment to people with or at risk of HIV. Funding under this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) will support eight regional AETCs. Each will provide training and TA to health care teams and organizations. A Family-Centered Approach to Affirming Care
A nationally recognized pediatric endocrinologist will explore approaches to providing affirming medical gender care to children and adolescents, sharing strategies and tools. SDOH Academy National Webinar Series, Part 3: Building Bridges between Healthcare Systems and Community-Based Organizations to Address Health Disparities
The SDOH Academy* is hosting a four-part webinar series focused on promising practices and innovative approaches to addressing the social determinants of health (SDOH). Recordings of parts 1 and 2, which took place last year, are available on their website.
Part 3 will explore innovative strategies to advance population health and health equity through the power of community partnerships and transformative system delivery. Speakers will highlight unique SDOH challenges faced by special populations and the impact on their access to care and health disparities. The webinar will also showcase strategies and best practices for building and sustaining effective community SDOH partnerships between health care systems and local communities.

Health Center Preparedness and Response Forum: Extreme Heat and Wildfires
A dozen HRSA-funded NTTAPs are collaborating on this four-session forum focused on preparing for and responding to various emergencies. This series is primarily for health centers serving priority populations, such as agricultural workers, individuals experiencing homelessness, public housing residents, and other vulnerable groups, including older adults and Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Native Hawaiian patients.
This third session will focus on extreme heat and wildfires. See the registration page for the final date in the series.

Updated Risk Assessment Toolkit
See this redesigned toolkit from the HHS Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response. The Risk Identification and Site Criticality (RISC) Toolkit is an objective, data-driven, all-hazards risk assessment that can inform emergency preparedness planning, risk management activities, and resource investments. It’s designed to aid public and private organizations in the health care and public health sector to identify threats and hazards, assess vulnerabilities, and determine the consequences of disruptions.
The toolkit can be used by health centers to:
- Support emergency preparedness planning.
- Improve communication and coordination at the community, county, state, and federal levels.
- Improve preparedness and response efficiencies through a data-sharing model.
Designing Space for Hybrid Care Models
Capital Link released a publication on planning and optimizing health center spaces to best support hybrid care. It provides insight into designing facilities to accommodate both in-person and virtual care efficiently and strategically, considering staff and patient needs and preferences. Suicide Prevention and Risk Assessment Strategies for LGBTQ+ Communities
The stunningly disproportionate rate of self-induced deaths among LGBTQ+ individuals is an ongoing emergency. Health center providers serve sexual and gender minority people every day, but adequate preparation for supporting these populations is rarely offered in professional training. This publication highlights some of the pressures that lead sexual and gender minority people to suicide, what factors elevate or lower self-harm risk, and interventions to help LGBTQ+ people build resilience in a hostile world.
