What's New

Policy Did You Know

Policy Tip: Form 5A Column Descriptors

A service provided by a 1099 contracted employee falls under Column II: Formal Written Contract/Agreement (Health Center pays) in Form 5A: Services Provided (PDF). It can be confusing to know which column a service should be listed in on Form 5A. That’s why we have the Form 5A Column Descriptors (PDF). This resource goes through everything a health center should consider when deciding which column a service fits into. This resource is a great tool to use in conjunction with the Health Center Self-Assessment Worksheet for Form 5A: Services Provided (PDF).

ECV Reporting Requirement

Health centers using Expanding COVID-19 Vaccination (ECV) funds are required to complete the monthly Health Center COVID-19 Survey. The survey for September data went out last Friday (October 6) and is due by 11:59 p.m. your local time on Thursday, October 12.

Our Health Center COVID-19 Survey webpage links to tools that can help you complete the survey: a preview and a user guide for survey respondents who have questions. If you still have questions about the survey, use the BPHC Contact Form (COVID-19 > COVID-19 Surveys).

National Advisory Council on Migrant Health Meeting

The National Advisory Council on Migrant Health (NACMH) will hold an in-person meeting at HRSA headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. The meeting will take place on November 1-2. The event is open to the public. Visit the NACMH webpage to view the agenda or to register to attend virtually.

NACMH advises and makes recommendations to the HHS Secretary on policy, program development, and other topics related to Migrant Health Centers and other organizations that serve migratory and seasonal agricultural workers and their families.

CMS Requests Public Input on Coverage of Over-the-Counter Preventive Services, Including Contraception, Tobacco Cessation, and Breastfeeding Supplies

HHS and the Departments of Labor and the Treasury seek public input on how best to ensure coverage and access to over-the-counter (OTC) preventive services, including the benefits of requiring most health insurance plans to cover these services at no cost and without a prescription by a health care provider. This Request for Information solicits comments on access to a range of OTC items recommended by experts for preventive care that can be purchased without a prescription, including contraceptives, tobacco smoking cessation products, folic acid during pregnancy, and breastfeeding supplies. The press release links to the Federal Register Notice.
