Health Center Visit Highlights Innovative Community-Based Training Program
HRSA Administrator Carole Johnson and U.S. Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, visited the Spokane Teaching Health Center in Spokane, Washington. Their visit highlighted the role of the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education program in bringing health care providers to communities that need them most by training directly in the community. 2023 HRSA Patient Safety Awareness Week: The Role of Technology in Patient Safety and Patient Engagement
Patient Safety Awareness Week is March 12-18. HRSA is hosting an event in partnership with AHRQ, CDC, CMS, IHS, NIH, as well as the National Practitioner Data Bank.

Speakers will discuss how remote patient monitoring and predictive artificial intelligence are improving patient outcomes, how health care providers can maximize the use of technology and digital health, and how to address health disparities and communication inequities to ensure that advances in technology and digital health can support all patients. There will also be a virtual exhibit hall at the end of the session.

The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) produced these guides for health center board members. Each presents an overview on the topic, then suggests the board’s role and questions to consider.
Brief Questionnaire on Medical-Legal Partnerships in Health Centers
The National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership (NCMLP) invites health centers to share how they address their patients’ health-related legal needs (e.g., through implementing a medical-legal partnership or MLP). Their questionnaire should take less than 10 minutes.
Comment on USCDI Revisions
The U.S. Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) is a standardized set of health data classes and constituent data elements for nationwide, interoperable health information exchange. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) invites feedback on draft USCDI version 4 by Monday, April 17, through their website. Draft 4 reflects prioritization criteria, including behavioral health integration with primary and other physical care as well as the needs of underserved communities. You may suggest additions to the USCDI via ONC's New Data Element and Class submission system.
Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices 2023 Recommended Immunization Schedules

Pilot Interventions to Integrate Social Care and Medical Care to Improve Health Equity

Identification and Evidence-Based Interventions for Treating Anxiety and Depression
These sessions are part of a practice-focused Community of Practice for behavioral health providers working in health centers. Today’s focuses on motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy in integrated care. The next session (Tuesday, March 14) focuses on functional analysis, mindfulness, and the importance of awareness. Join either or both, even if you did not attend previous sessions.

Cannabis Use Disorder
Speakers from the HRSA-funded National Clinician Consultation Center will provide an overview of cannabis use disorder (CUD), including signs and symptoms of CUD. They will also explore the risks and consequences of CUD and offer treatment strategies.

AHRQ Substance Use Disorder Notice of Funding Opportunity
AHRQ released a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO), Management of Substance Use Disorders in Primary Care and Other Ambulatory Settings (R18). It uses the R18 mechanism to support projects that develop and test strategies to improve the capacity of primary care and ambulatory settings to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care for people who misuse opioids and other substances. Lean is a methodology that looks at what is not adding value from the patient’s perspective and eliminates/modifies those activities.
