Through the HRSA MCHB Emerging Issues in Maternal and Child Health grant, our partner in Pennsylvania recently developed the PREPaRE Co-training and Partnership Implementation Guide. This guide helps organizations Partner in Pediatric Readiness, Emergency Preparedness, and Response Education (PREPaRE).
The PREPaRE project developed training modules to help providers and families communicate more effectively during emergency situations. The focus was on ensuring children with complex health & social needs get their needs met.
Use and adapt this guide to your state, regional, and local needs. It contains training and partnership-building resources, downloadable social media toolkits, recruitment flyers, training videos, and slide decks with presentation notes. The training package even includes tips for those just getting started in the training process and those looking to co-design and develop with local partners.
The Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) has named Ms. Belinda Pettiford, MPH, as the new Chair for the Advisory Committee on Infant and Maternal Mortality (ACIMM). This committee advises the Secretary on department activities, partnerships, policies, and programs directed at reducing infant mortality, maternal mortality, and severe maternal morbidity. Ms. Pettiford served on the Committee from 2018 to 2022. She now will serve a 3-year term as ACIMM Chair. She has over 30 years of experience in public health (read more).

Ensuring MCH Populations Have Health Coverage
Waivers put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic to make sure people had Medicaid or CHIP coverage are ending on March 31, 2023. States will then decide who still qualifies for coverage. This process is referred to as "unwinding.”
Please help our maternal and child health (MCH) populations continue to receive health coverage when they are eligible.
What you can do: Help connect people to their State Medicaid or CHIP program to update contact information and complete paperwork. Help people who no longer qualify for Medicaid or CHIP apply for coverage through HealthCare.gov.
Use these Messaging Resources: Unwinding Communications Toolkit (in English and Spanish; some materials available in Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Tagalog, and Vietnamese).
