Unmet Need Score Map Tool
HRSA developed the Unmet Need Score (UNS) to evaluate the need for new Health Center Program investments. The UNS is calculated using 28 health determinant and health status measures. Details about the data sources and calculation methodology are available in the UNS Resource Guide (PDF).
The newly developed UNS map tool further assists applicants in identifying service area needs. This tool is for planning purposes only, as HRSA does not currently have an open New Access Point (NAP) competition. In the event we receive funding for NAP, HRSA will use the UNS in the application.

Puerto Rico Health Centers: Test and Vaccinate Children for Dengue
If you are a health care provider in Puerto Rico, order a dengue test today for all children ages 9-16 years. Inform children and their parents about the risks of dengue, and how getting the vaccine can protect them. If their test result is positive for a previous dengue virus infection, encourage them to get the vaccine. HRSA’s January in Brief: Expanding Mental Health Resources for a New Year
Administrator Johnson visited Los Angeles, California, and Albany, New York, to announce Bipartisan Safer Communities Act funding, HRSA hosted a mental health roundtable, awarded new funding to integrate training on mental health for primary care clinicians, and announced several new funding opportunities. Brief Questionnaire on Medical-Legal Partnerships in Health Centers
The National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership (NCMLP) invites health centers to share how they address their patients’ health-related legal needs (e.g., through implementing a medical-legal partnership or MLP). Their questionnaire should take less than 10 minutes.

Research Funding Opportunities Using of All of Us Data

Funding Opportunity Expands, Enhances Nurse Practitioner Residency Programs with Primary Care Focus
HRSA released the Advanced Nursing Education Nurse Practitioner Residency and Fellowship Program NOFO, which will award approximately $30 million to up to 43 grantees to effectively provide primary care by supporting transition to practice through the expansion and/or enhancement of existing nurse practitioner residency programs. The program also focuses on the integration of behavioral health and maternal health into primary care by training new primary care providers, behavioral health providers, and certified nurse midwives in community-based settings. HRSA is hosting these workshops for Primary Care Associations (PCAs) and health centers. The Special and Vulnerable Populations Diabetes Task Force presents four opportunities, hosted by CSH.
