In January, Administrator Johnson visited Los Angeles, California, and Albany, New York, to to support mental health training for primary care physicians. Thanks to the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, HRSA was able to awarded nearly $60 million in new funding to integrate training on mental health for primary care clinicians.

Last week, HRSA released the fiscal year (FY) 2023 Early Childhood Development (ECD) notice of funding opportunity (NOFO, HRSA-23-028). HRSA will make approximately $30 million available for up to 150 awards (up to $200,000 per award) to fund the expansion of early childhood development care through increased screenings and follow-up services.
Health Center Program operational (H80) grant award recipients are eligible to apply. Visit the ECD technical assistance (TA) page to access the NOFO, application aids, TA session details, and other resources.

People living in rural communities face financial, geographic, and provider supply barriers to accessing healthcare services. Historically, providers may deliver healthcare services via telehealth to patients located in the state in which the provider is licensed. However, expanding cross-state licensure for healthcare providers can mitigate some of these challenges by allowing patients to engage in virtual telehealth appointments with a broader network of providers. Recent legislation at both the state and federal levels has significantly affected the ability of healthcare providers to serve patients virtually and across state lines.
