New and Updated Technical Assistance Resources
Earlier this year, HHS and the Department of Education (ED) co-hosted a webinar, Expanding School-Health Center Partnerships. Based on that webinar, HHS and ED created the Partnerships between Schools and HRSA-Supported Health Centers: 10 Need-to-Know Tips (PDF) Technical Assistance Resource (TAR) to provide background, key takeaways, and additional resources for schools interested in establishing partnerships with HRSA-supported health centers.
HRSA also updated the TAR on Family Planning and Related Services in Health Centers (PDF) to provide information related to the delivery of voluntary family planning and related services. The resource is not new policy. It includes:
- Related health center scope of project requirements
- Other Health Center Program requirements
- Evidence-based recommendations and resources that support health centers in providing high-quality family planning services
Additionally, the descriptions of obstetrical services, gynecological services, and voluntary family planning services have been revised in the Service Descriptors for Form 5A: Services Provided (PDF) resource to align with the updated TAR.
We’ll announce these resources for health centers in next week’s Primary Health Care Digest.

OSBO Statisticians Selected for Third Cohort of the HHS Data Science CoLab
Two statisticians from OSBO's Data Unit, Bailey Sutton and Hoa Le, are selected to participate in the latest cohort of the HHS Data Science CoLab, which begins next month.
The Data Science CoLab is a training opportunity sponsored by the HHS Office of the Chief Data Officer. Participants complete an eight-week virtual data science training program with 64 hours of instruction to increase their intermediate data skills. Next, they apply their new skills by completing a four-week Capstone Project, such as developing a tool, model, or system using their own program-specific data sets relevant to their work.
Bailey and Hoa will use machine learning techniques with federal data sources to predict health center capacity issues and map potential long COVID hotspots.
Congratulate Bailey and Hoa if you get a chance! If you have questions about the CoLab program or application process, contact DGB@HHS.gov.

Getting to Know: Anne Mamish
Meet Anne Mamish, Student Trainee (Pathways Intern), OHCIO:
|
Before working at BPHC, what was the most unusual or interesting job you ever had: I used to be a soccer referee for mostly recreation league soccer games. It was really fun to watch the kids play, but it could also be somewhat stressful during tense matches and dealing with angry parents.
I’m happiest when: I’m baking for my friends and family. I especially enjoy experimenting with different cookie recipes.
What is the most outrageous thing you ever ate: A few years ago when I was in St. Maarten, I ate frog legs. They taste like chicken.
If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be: Anthony Bourdain, because I think he had a unique perspective on food and culture through all his travels.
Learn more about Anne, and email BPHC Insider to submit your name for a future Getting to Know.
