Monkeypox Resources
Our bulletin from last Friday includes important CDC updates:

  • A Dear Colleague message about diagnosis and treatment of monkeypox virus infection.
  • A request that all health care providers report vaccine adverse events (possible side effects) to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). Report any event that, in your professional judgment, is medically important or clinically significant, even if you are not sure if the vaccine caused the event.

National Health Center Week

Health Centers Hit Historic Milestone of Patients Served
Join us next week as we celebrate National Health Center Week (August 7-13). Our nation’s health centers do invaluable work to reduce health disparities and advance health equity in communities across the country! Emerging from the worst of the pandemic, health centers are now facing unprecedented demand for services. They’re providing affordable, high-quality primary health care to millions of people nationwide.

We expect to publish 2021 Uniform Data System (UDS) data next Monday, August 8, as part of our celebration. It will appear in HRSA’s Data Warehouse on the Health Center Program Data and Reporting webpages.

Join a webinar to learn about trends in the 2021 data on health center patient demographics, staffing, and clinical quality measures. You’ll gain insights on health centers' growth, recovery, and performance.

Deadline Reminder: Service Area Competition Applications for January, February, and March 1 Starts
Service Area Competition (SAC) HRSA-23-018 applications for January 1 starts are due in HRSA’s Electronic Handbooks (EHBs) by 5:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 11.

SAC HRSA-23-019 applications for February 1 starts are due in EHBs by 5:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, August 17.

SAC HRSA-23-020 applications for March 1 starts are due in:

  • Grants.gov: by 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, August 15.
  • EHBs: by 5:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 14.

Technical assistance (TA) materials are available on the SAC TA webpage.


Uniform Data System

2022 UDS Reporting TA
Beginning in September, HRSA will host a series of 90-minute TA webinars to support 2022 UDS reporting.

We encourage health center staff responsible for preparing UDS data report submissions to attend. You will gain information and resources that support complete, accurate, and timely submission of your UDS reports.

HRSA’s July in Brief
In July, HRSA took action to support the Biden-Harris Administration’s priorities including addressing the nation’s mental health crisis, growing the health workforce, supporting women’s health, and ending the HIV epidemic. Read highlights.


Pharmacies at Health Centers: Operations and Models
These resources outline how to implement or grow pharmaceutical operations in health centers. Both specifically address the 340B Drug Discount Program.

The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) produced both resources. NACHC is a HRSA-funded National Training and Technical Assistance Partner (NTTAP).


COVID-19

Provider Relief Fund Reporting Portal Open
The Provider Relief Fund (PRF) Reporting Portal is open for Reporting Period 3. Providers who received one or more PRF payment exceeding $10,000, in the aggregate, during the third Payment Received Period must report on their use of funds no later than 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, September 30. Has your health center made significant progress in helping patients get hypertension under control? Consider submitting your application for CDC’s 2022 Million Hearts Hypertension Control Challenge. Applicants must have achieved hypertension control rates of at least 80% for a 12-month period. The website includes rules and eligibility requirements.

Nurse Education Funding Available
HRSA announced the availability of $14.75 million to increase the nursing workforce and improve nursing education and practice to address health equity in underserved areas. Learn more.


Best Practices for Adapting to the Remote and Hybrid Workforce in Team-Based Care
Telehealth and remote work are going to continue to be a “way of life” even after the pandemic is over. This newly released publication provides health center leadership with ideas and best practices on how to adapt policies and procedures for a remote and hybrid workforce. The Association of Clinicians for the Underserved’s (ACU) STAR2 Center and the Health Information Technology, Evaluation, and Quality (HITEQ) Center (both HRSA-funded NTTAPs) collaborated on this publication.


HRSA-funded NTTAPs present these learning collaborative opportunities:

  • Healing-Centered Approaches to Addressing Adolescent Relationship Abuse and Human Trafficking for School-Based Health Centers
    This opportunity is for adolescent-serving school-based service sites. Specifically, for those interested in building capacity to promote healthy relationships and prevent adolescent relationship abuse and trafficking. Participants can earn continuing education credits for the six sessions. Apply​ by Monday, September 12. Presented by the School-Based Health Alliance and Health Partners on IPV + Exploitation.

  • Integration of Diabetes and Oral Health
    Participants will learn how they can improve outcomes for people with diabetes by increasing the number of dual users of medical and dental services. Apply by 2:59 a.m. ET on Saturday, August 20. Presented by The National Network for Oral Health Access.

Tips to Help Health Centers Address Disability & Chronic Disease Discrimination ​​​
This publication contains tips, electronic resources, and two brand new screening tools to help patients with disabilities and chronic diseases. The National Domestic Violence Hotline, in partnership with the Survivor Health Connection Project, developed a new training for health care professionals on supporting survivors in health care settings and connecting patients to needed services.
