Fiscal Year 2022 Primary Care HIV Prevention Non-Competing Continuation Instructions Available HRSA released the non-competing continuation (NCC) progress report instructions for fiscal year (FY) 2022 Ending the HIV Epidemic – Primary Care HIV Prevention (PCHP) award recipients that were originally funded in September 2021.
NCC submissions are due by 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, April 15. Visit the PCHP technical assistance (TA) webpage for more information, including progress report instructions, a pre-recorded technical assistance webinar, and other resources.
FY 2022 School-Based Service Sites NCC Instructions Available HRSA released the NCC progress report instructions for FY 2022 Health Center Program Service Expansion: School-Based Service Sites (SBSS) award recipients.

Enhancing Health Center Data Interoperability with FHIR® Andrew Hamilton, RN, Chief Informatics Officer of AllianceChicago, a HRSA-funded Health Center Controlled Network, will present a case study on leveraging Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) for COVID-19 electronic case reporting. He will illustrate how health centers have used FHIR® standards to respond to public health emergencies as well as other common FHIR® use cases and the factors needed for health centers to implement FHIR® standards successfully.
In addition, HRSA staff will outline the Uniform Data System (UDS) Modernization Initiative goals. They will discuss implications of aligning with new Health Level 7 International (HL7®) FHIR® standards, and they will share plans to enable UDS Patient Level Submission (UDS+) reporting via HL7® FHIR® technology.

Climate Change and Health: The Risks to Community Health and Health Care Utilization Climate change influences human health and diseases in numerous ways, and underserved communities stand to bear the brunt of these climate-induced risks (e.g., extreme heat, poor air quality, flooding, extreme weather events). HRSA and CDC’s Climate and Health Program invite you to consider the impacts of climate change on the U.S. health care system. CDC will share its work to build resilience to these public health effects.

The Health Center Board’s Role in Evaluating and Implementing Corporate Consolidation Strategies This resource from the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) outlines the role of a health center board in evaluating and implementing corporate consolidation strategies such as merger, asset acquisition, and parent-subsidiary model. NACHC is a HRSA-funded National Training and Technical Assistance Partner (NTTAP).
HRSA’s February Roundup In February, HRSA announced:
- The winners of the Promoting Pediatric Primary Prevention Challenge;
- $66.5 million to support community-based vaccine outreach efforts;
- More than $560 million in pandemic relief payments to health care providers;
- Funding to increase virtual care quality and access; and
- New funding to support primary care residency programs.

Rural Public Health Workforce Training Network HRSA recently announced the availability of nearly $48 million in American Rescue Plan funding for community based-organizations to expand public health capacity in rural and tribal communities through health care job development, training, and placement. COVID-19
COVID-19 Response Supplies Available We are pleased to share that the supply of COVID-19 at-home self-tests available through the HRSA COVID-19 Testing Supply Program has substantially increased.
We have also added the option for all HRSA-supported health centers and Medicare-certified rural health clinics to order COVID-19 point-of-care testing supplies from the Testing Supply Program, as well as N95 masks from the HRSA Health Center COVID-19 N95 Mask Program.

Updated CDC Guidance on Masking and COVID-19 Preventive Measures CDC recently updated its framework to monitor the level of COVID-19 in communities. CDC leaders also announced that this data will inform recommendations on prevention measures like masking. They have updated their masks webpage to provide guidance based on the COVID-19 Community Level and personal risk factors. Read the full media briefing transcript.
Special and Vulnerable Populations COVID-19 Forum Webinar Series Join several NTTAPs to hear discussion of how COVID-19 has impacted health centers and the special populations they serve. Suma Nair, PhD, Director of BPHC's Office of Quality Improvement, will join the sessions. She will provide up-to-date information about assistance for health centers as they recover and stabilize their workforce while continuing to respond to the pandemic.

Integrating Psychiatry into Primary Care Treatment of Patients with Substance Use Disorder Speakers will present care models for referral and care coordination between psychiatry and primary care providers and discuss experiences with collaborative care planning, using screening tools to identify patients appropriately, implementing successful referral and handoff transitions, and using medication management to improve patient participation and efficacy in their treatment.

Stepping Through the Viral Hepatitis Elimination Strategy
Join the National Nurse-Led Care Consortium (NNCC) to walk through HHS’ National Strategic Plan: A Roadmap to Elimination on preventing hepatitis viral infection. Join your peers in translating the federal plan into practical, actionable steps. The focus will be on implementation planning, scaling-up, enhancing, and improving comprehensive services and continuity of care within health centers. Participants will have the chance to build their own implementation plan and access resources and templates for the process. Apply by Monday, March 21.
Dental Faculty Loan Repayment Program HRSA recently released a dental faculty loan repayment program notice of funding opportunity to increase the number of dental and dental hygiene faculty in the workforce. This funding is designed to help attract and retain faculty to dental and dental hygiene training programs through the operation of a loan repayment program.

NACHC's Monthly Telehealth Office Hours: Follow-up Strategies for Implementing Teledentistry NACHC and the National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA) will follow up on a 2021 office hour on patient-centered strategies for teledentistry. This session will provide useful tips and examples for developing teledentistry workflows and highlight case use examples for pediatric populations.

Breast Cancer Prevention Resources In partnership with CDC, the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors has created a suite of digital resources for the Bring Your Brave campaign. These resources can build health educators, leaders, practitioners, and chronic disease staff’s capacity to support family discussions on known or unknown family history of cancer and cancer prevention strategies. This video for practitioners and educators discusses how to use stories to improve difficult conversations about hereditary cancer (between practitioners and patients, as well as patients and their families).
Updated Developmental Milestones from CDC CDC recently released revised developmental milestones and tips to support early child development. Since 2004, CDC’s Learn the Signs. Act Early. program has offered developmental milestone checklists and other free materials to help caregivers track children’s milestones and take action on early developmental concerns. Recent updates make them even more useful, relevant, and timely.
