What's New
An Important Milestone Earlier this week, Jim announced that we’ve officially transitioned to using new office names and implementing our functions, tied to the release of an updated HRSA Federal Register Notice (FRN). If you missed it, read his message.
Going forward:
- ONHS is now the Office of Health Center Investment Oversight (OHCIO). This group will include moving a subset of staff from OPPD who provide oversight of capital investments.
- OSHS is now the Office of Health Center Program Monitoring (OHCPM).
- DAO is now the Division of Workforce Management (DWM). This group will include a subset of staff from OSBO who focus on organizational development and staff engagement.
- OSBO includes a new data function.
While their names are not changing, OPPD and OQI will join with OHCIO and OHCPM to enhance BPHC’s work to improve outcomes, performance, and health equity.
At last week’s BPHC All-Hands, office directors walked through changes to their office structures. If you missed it, watch the recording or see the slides (make sure to read the talking points).
Over the next few weeks, we’ll update office names online (for example, on the BPHC Information and Resources (BIR) site and on BPHC’s website).
We’ve updated key resources on the REACH website. Use these to better understand, or talk about, these changes:
-
FAQs: Note that we sorted the page by “Modified” date so recent updates appear at the top. Sort by “Question” to see the FAQs in order.
-
Talking points for external stakeholders: Use these to answer questions you receive.
-
Office charter overviews (select the office from the menu on the right).
If you still have questions, you can email BPHCREACH@hrsa.gov. If your question is about how this information impacts you individually, please talk with your supervisor.

Federal Update at the NACHC Community Health Institute Conference The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) hosted its annual Community Health Institute & EXPO conference last week. Associate Administrator Jim Macrae and others gave the Federal Update.
Jim lauded the work of health centers and congratulated them for their heroic efforts as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded. Among other successes, health centers have delivered more than 14 million vaccines to patients. Jim also described the extraordinary work of BPHC staff to support the health centers.
View the slides from Jim’s presentation and view presentations from other BPHC leaders.
NEW: Community Health Quality Recognition Badges We are recognizing Health Center Program awardees and look-alikes that have made notable quality improvement achievements with our new Community Health Quality Recognition (CHQR) badges. These recognize achievements in access, quality, health equity, and health information technology for the 2020 Uniform Data System reporting period.
Read Monday’s BPHC Bulletin to learn more. Note that the bulletin directs health centers to Health Center Program Support if they want high-resolution badge images.
