HRSA’s Health Professions Education and Training Initiative: Readiness to Train Assessment Tool Survey Training Call
HRSA’s Health Professions Education and Training (HP-ET) Initiative will enhance health centers’ capabilities to recruit, develop, and retain their workforce by exposing health and allied health professions students, trainees, and residents to education and training programs conducted at health centers.

The HP-ET Initiative will use the Readiness to Train Assessment Tool (RTAT™) developed by Community Health Center (CHC), Inc., a HRSA-funded National Training and Technical Assistance Partner (NTTAP), to help health centers assess and improve their readiness to engage in health professions training programs. The tool covers dimensions of health center readiness for developing and engaging with health professions training programs. PCAs will use the results to expand targeted workforce training and technical assistance (TA) capabilities, working with health centers in their respective states on focused strategic workforce plan activities intended to increase health center capacity with recruitment efforts.

CHC, Inc. is conducting a webinar for all health centers to learn more about the tool:

Wednesday, September 23
3:00-4:30 p.m. ET
Register here

Following the webinar, the PCA in your state will contact you with a link to take the RTAT™. Once you have your survey results, your PCA can help you develop a targeted strategic workforce plan that will include health professions trainings and pipeline programs that could meet the needs of your community, as well as offer training and TA to help you achieve your workforce goals.

Rural Action Plan

HHS Releases Rural Action Plan
HHS recently released the Rural Action Plan, the first HHS-wide assessment of rural health care efforts in more than 18 years and the product of HHS’s Rural Task Force, a group of experts and leaders across the department first put together by Secretary Azar in 2019.

The plan outlines existing and upcoming federal activities to improve care in rural communities. It examines the key challenges facing rural communities and lays out a four-point strategy to transform rural health and human services: 1) build a sustainable health and human services model for rural communities; 2) leverage technology and innovation; 3) focus on preventing disease and mortality; and 4) increase rural access to care.

There are no proven treatments for people who have symptomatic COVID-19 but are not sick enough to be in the hospital. To try to change that, NIH funds The ACTIV-2 Study, which is conducted by the AIDS Clinical Trials Group.

If you have adult patients diagnosed with COVID-19, consider encouraging them to join this clinical trial. The trial website includes helpful information:
