Calendar Year 2021 FTCA Health Center Deeming Applications Will Open Soon
Applications for medical malpractice coverage under the FTCA will open on Monday, April 13, in HRSA’s Electronic Handbooks (EHBs). We’ve extended the completion deadline to Monday, July 13.
HRSA guidance for both new applications (deeming) and renewal of existing coverage (redeeming) for health center staff is available in Program Assistance Letter (PAL) 2020-02. Details about coverage for health center volunteer health professionals are available in PAL 2020-03.

Service Area Competition Notice of Funding Opportunity
HRSA is extending the application deadline for the Service Area Competition (SAC) notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) HRSA-20-100 in order to provide flexibility to health centers as they focus on COVID-19 activities. Budget Period Progress Reports
In order to provide flexibility as health centers focus on the COVID-19 crisis, HRSA is extending the deadline of the fiscal year (FY) 2020 Budget Period Progress Report (BPR) non-competing continuation for award recipients with a September 1, 2020, budget period start date (5-H80-20-007). TA for COVID-19 Supplemental Funding for Health Centers HRSA will host two question and answer sessions to help the FY 2020 Coronavirus Supplemental Funding for Health Centers (COVID-19) award recipients develop their responses to the COVID-19 Response Reporting Requirement due in EHBs on Thursday, April 23. Guidance for HRSA Grant Recipients On Thursday, March 19, OMB issued Memorandum M-20-17, Administrative Relief for Recipients and Applicants of Federal Financial Assistance Directly Impacted by the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) due to Loss of Operations. When compared to OMB’s March 9 Memorandum (M-20-11), the newer memorandum provides similar administrative relief but to an expanded scope of recipients. To ease the programmatic difficulties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, HRSA is integrating all 13 of the administrative flexibilities provided in the latest OMB memorandum. Learn more.

Diabetes
Diabetes in Special & Vulnerable Populations: A National Learning Series Fourteen HRSA-funded NCAs have partnered to create a four-part national learning webinar series for health centers, PCAs, and Health Center Controlled Networks. The goal is to increase foundational knowledge of effective strategies to prevent, treat, and manage diabetes among special and vulnerable Health Center Program populations. This year’s National Learning Series topics include team-based care, patient health literacy, and community engagement to address diabetes.

Workforce
Reducing Health Disparities through Community Partnerships The SDOH Academy announces a two-session learning collaborative designed to help health centers and their partners enhance population health through partnership development and improved service integration. This is a collaboration between several HRSA-funded NCAs, and the SDOH was founded by one of the participating organizations. Session 1 (Wednesday, April 8) will provide an overview and session 2 (Wednesday, April 22) will dive into implementation strategies. You can also find additional SDOH resources in the Health Center Clearinghouse.
Deadline Extension: HRSA’s National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Programs HRSA’s National Health Service Corps (NHSC) opened its application for all three loan repayment programs:
We’ve extended the application deadline to Thursday, May 21, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Eligible clinicians providing primary medical, dental, or behavioral health care services or evidence-based SUD treatment can qualify for loan repayment up to $50,000 for the NHSC LRP, up to $75,000 for the NHSC SUD Workforce LRP, and up to $100,000 for the Rural Community LRP. Risk Management Training: Requirements, Resources, and Strategies ECRI Institute (on HRSA’s behalf) presents a webinar on risk management training. It will focus on the relationship between risk management training and patient safety, the core elements of a successful risk management program, the training requirements described in the Health Center Program Compliance Manual, and the selection and use of ECRI Institute Clinical Risk Management Program resources for training efforts. ECRI Institute will offer the webinar at two times. This webinar will be recorded and archived on the Clinical Risk Management Program website if you can’t attend.
