Blood Pressure Control

Health Center Blood Pressure Control Data Dashboard
Nearly 30% of health center patients experience high blood pressure (hypertension), a known risk factor for heart disease. HRSA is introducing a new way to visualize and interact with health center hypertension data. Using UDS information, the new hypertension data dashboard provides a multilevel view of blood pressure control in HRSA-funded health centers. You can use it to compare health center-level and state-level UDS data to national benchmarks.

Check back for new health center data dashboards coming soon!

HIV

Change

Schedule Change: Sexual Health and Wellness for LGBTQIA+ Older Adults
NOTE: The dates for this series have changed from those published in past Digest issues.

Because older adults are less likely to be tested for HIV, they can experience a higher incidence of comorbid health conditions.

The National Center for Equitable Care for Elders and the National LGBT Health Education Center, both HRSA-funded National Cooperative Agreements (NCAs), present a webinar series addressing the importance of discussing safe sexual practices with LGBTQIA+ older adults and the value of connecting individuals to HIV prevention methods like pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

Diabetes

American Diabetes Association Releases the 2020 Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes
Updated annually to provide the up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines for the prevention and management of diabetes, the 2020 Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes is the go-to resource for diabetes screening, prevention, and management. A version of the standards, Abridged for Primary Care Providers, offers criteria for diabetes screening and guidelines for treatment of special populations that include older adults, pediatric patients, and pregnant and post-partum women. The standards are now also available in an app in the Google Play and Apple iOS stores.

The “2019 Update to: Management of Hyperglycemia in Type 2 Diabetes, 2018. A Consensus Report by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD)” serves as a companion to the standards. It incorporates updates on the management of hyperglycemia based on the findings of a trial that looked at atherosclerotic related comorbidities.

Nutrition Therapy for Adults with Diabetes or Prediabetes: A Consensus Report” provides recommendations for the utilization of nutrition to modify diabetes risk and improve diabetes control.
