National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. About 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Patients with a family history of breast cancer should discuss screening with their health care providers.
Last year more than half a million patients received mammograms at HRSA-funded health centers. Health center clinicians may want to share CDC’s Bring Your Brave campaign with patients. It provides information about breast cancer to women younger than age 45 by sharing real stories about young women whose lives have been affected by breast cancer.
