HRSA Acting Administrator Tom Engels, Vice Minister Wang Hesheng, and the Delegation of the National Health Commission Visit Zufall Health Center United Nations National Health Commission Vice Minister Wang Hesheng and his delegation met with HRSA Acting Administrator Tom Engels, HRSA Regional Administrator Cheryl Donald, and the Zufall Health Center CEO and staff during their visit to the HRSA-funded health center in Dover, NJ. Vice Minister Wang expressed appreciation for the meeting and noted HRSA’s mission and the relevance of visiting a community-based health center in the context of the United Nations General Assembly discussions about universal health coverage and primary care.
The visit included a demonstration of the health center’s primary care service delivery model, including oral health, and a mobile health unit tour. Discussion ranged from financial to clinical operations. One of Zufall’s staff physicians participates in the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), which inspired conversation about HRSA programs to support health workforce training, education, and placement of practitioners in service areas of high need.

Testing the Feasibility of Changes to the Uniform Data System HRSA launched the Uniform Data System (UDS) Modernization Initiative to reduce reporting burden, improve the quality of UDS data, and engage stakeholders in the change process. As part of this initiative, and with health centers across the country as participants, we formed the UDS Test Cooperative. It will provide us with early, evidence-based feedback about UDS changes to consider for national rollout. Find out how you can participate.

National Advisory Council on Migrant Health Bi-Annual Meeting The National Advisory Council on Migrant Health’s bi-annual meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6, and Thursday, November 7, in Rockville, MD. The Council consults with and makes recommendations to the HHS Secretary and the HRSA Administrator concerning the organization, operation, selection and funding of migrant health centers under section 330 of the Public Health Service Act. Exploring Resources and Treatment Models for Hepatitis C Virus and Opioid Use Disorder The National Nurse-Led Care Consortium, a HRSA-funded National Cooperative Agreement (NCA), presents a learning collaborative focused on the intersection of opioid use disorder (OUD) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). Presenters will review HCV testing and treatment models from various health settings and locations and discuss how programs have started to integrate substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, specific to the opioid crisis. Participants in the virtual learning collaborative will attend four learning sessions consisting of live web-based platform training and facilitated optional office hours on Tuesdays beginning this month through early December. Request for Proposals: MAT-LINK Funding Opportunity The Public Health Informatics Institute, in collaboration with CDC, has released a request for proposals for the MATernaL and Infant NetworK to Understand Outcomes Associated with Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder during Pregnancy (MAT-LINK). The goal of MAT-LINK is to establish a surveillance network to collect data on maternal, infant, and child health outcomes associated with treatments for opioid use disorder during pregnancy. Funding will be awarded to clinical sites that have the ability to integrate or link maternal and newborn data and the authority to access and share the data with CDC.
All proposals are due by 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, November 15. Applicants may send in questions prior to Friday, October 4, and there will be a pre-proposal webinar for interested applicants:

National Health Service Corps Students to Service Loan Repayment Program is Open The NHSC Students to Service Loan Repayment Program application cycle is open. Medical and dental students in their final year of school may receive awards of up to $120,000 in exchange for a three-year commitment to provide primary care services in high-need areas. Oral Health Infrastructure Webinar Series The National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA), a HRSA-funded NCA, is offering a series of webinars on strategies for oral health infrastructure enhancements.
This webinar series is a companion to the NNOHA Oral Health Infrastructure Toolkit released in April. The webinars will highlight health centers who have completed infrastructure enhancements and expansion of their dental programs to increase access to oral health care. Content focuses on building participants’ skills in communicating with patients who have a serious illness and developing strategies to meet their unmet palliative needs, with an emphasis on dementia care.
