Service Area Competition (SAC) applications for service areas with a March 1, 2020, project period start date (HRSA-20-017) are due in EHBs by 5:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 25.

SAC Applications for April 1 Starts
SAC applications for service areas with an April 1, 2020, project period start date (HRSA-20-018) are due in Grants.gov by 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, September 30, and in EHBs by 5:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, October 30.

Quarterly 340B Program Registration Quarterly 340B Program site registration is open from October 1 to 15. Health centers are still able to register a site that has been verified as implemented and with a site status reflected as “active” in EHBs Form 5B through November 22, after which the system will close to prepare for the January 1, 2020, start. Email the 340B call center or call 888-340-2787 (Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. ET) to register a new site or ask questions.
You will need to provide the following information when calling:
- Health center name,
- Site/clinic name,
- Site IDs for all sites,
- HRSA/BPHC grant number,
- Contact name and email address, and
- Authorizing official name and email address.
The authorizing official will receive an email message that the account is unlocked and a registration may be submitted.

Final Week: Proposed Changes to the Calendar Year 2020 Uniform Data System: Comments Due by September 24 HRSA seeks comments on proposed changes to the 2020 Uniform Data System (UDS), which Health Center Program awardees and look-alikes will be required to report in February 2021. The deadline for comments on the proposed changes is Tuesday, September 24.
Reporting Virtual Visits and the Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Services Reporting Addendum As the Health Center Program prepares for the 2019 UDS reporting cycle, HRSA offers you opportunities to learn about UDS and receive TA on UDS reporting requirements.
At this webinar, we’ll explore revisions to and reporting requirements for Table 5, with a specific focus on how to report virtual visits and the mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) addendum.

Updating Your Accreditation and Patient-Centered Medical Home Recognition Information in EHBs Need to update your health center’s accreditation or Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognition information? Submit updates from your EHBs Grant Folder by clicking the “HRSA Accreditation/PCMH Initiative” link and choosing either the “Request Accreditation Update” or “Request PCMH Recognition Update” button. AHRQ Safety Program for Improving Antibiotic Use The AHRQ Safety Program for Improving Antibiotic Use is a one-year national program that will provide ambulatory clinics with expert coaching, online education and improvement tools, patient education materials, antibiotic use guidelines, and more to help you prevent harms associated with antibiotic resistance, such as Clostridioides difficile infections. By participating, your staff will have the opportunity to earn continuing education credits. The program kicks off in December, but you should enroll now. CMS awards $10 Million in 2019 Navigator Cooperative Agreement Awards CMS awarded $10 million in funding through the Navigator Cooperative Agreement Awards to 34 organizations that serve as Navigators in Federally-Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) states. A number of PCAs and health centers are among the awardees. These awards will support the work of organizations that assist consumers in searching, shopping for, and enrolling in health coverage for 2020. The 2020 Open Enrollment Period runs from Friday, November 1, to Sunday, December 15.
CDC’s Interim Guidance on Severe Lung Disease Associated with E-Cigarette Product Use According to the CDC, until a definitive cause for severe lung disease is known, people should consider not using e-cigarettes. Those who use e-cigarettes should seek medical attention for any health concerns. Clinicians should report possible cases to their local or state health department. Read more.

Free E-Learning Behavioral Intervention for Improving Medication-Assisted Treatment Outcomes Program Available SAMHSA-sponsored Provider Clinical Support Services released a free e-learning program for health professionals, Behavioral Interventions for Medication-Assisted Treatment: Improving Outcomes. It provides information on four evidence-based practices that effectively treat the behavioral aspects of addiction in conjunction with medication-assisted treatment. Participants are eligible to receive continuing education credits upon successful completion of the program.
U.S. Surgeon General Advisory Released on Marijuana Use and the Developing Brain Surgeon General Vice Admiral Jerome M. Adams has issued an advisory emphasizing the importance of protecting our nation from the health risks of marijuana use in adolescence and during pregnancy. The advisory includes the latest guidance for health professionals on marijuana use during adolescence and pregnancy. It also includes strategies and resources to help providers communicate with patients about marijuana use.
Do You Need Help Connecting to Your State Prescription Drug Monitoring Program? The Institute for Intergovernmental Research presents Office Hours with the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) Training and TA Center (TTAC). The PDMP TTAC at Brandeis University (funded by the Justice Department) provides comprehensive services and resources to help support the use and effectiveness of PDMPs in combating the misuse and diversion of prescription drugs.
This interactive session with PDMP experts will introduce the center and its resources, provide an overview on how to get connected to your state PDMP, and discuss PMDP and electronic health record integration. Experts will be available to answer participant questions and there will be an opportunity to request additional PDMP assistance for your health center.

Substance Use Warmline TA Office Hours: Evaluation and Management of Perinatal Opioid Use Disorder Experts from the HRSA-supported Substance Use Warmline—a free, telephone consultation service available to health centers that provide integrated behavioral health services—will discuss best practices on providing care for pregnant women with opioid use disorder (OUD) and approaches to addressing neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome. Warmline experts will also share methods for supporting health center clinical staff regarding the evaluation and management of OUD in pregnancy and the postpartum period.

The National Diabetes Prevention Program: Where We Are, Where We’re Going Join a webinar presenting the results of a national scan of PCA stakeholders around implementation of the National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP). This webinar is co-hosted by two HRSA-funded NCAs, the National Nurse-Led Care Consortium and the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO), and features speakers from those organizations, CDC, and HRSA, among others. HRSA Telehealth Learning Series: Centers of Excellence – Leveraging Academic Excellence to Advance Telehealth Knowledge This HRSA webinar will highlight the work of the Telehealth Centers of Excellence. Speakers from the Medical University of South Carolina and University of Mississippi Medical Center will review their core telehealth programs, including tele-ICU, tele-stroke, school-based telehealth, tele-emergency, and diabetes remote patient monitoring.
