One Week Left to Apply for Integrated Behavioral Health Services Funding Submit your application for HRSA’s fiscal year 2019 Integrated Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) funding in HRSA’s Electronic Handbooks (EHBs) by 5:00 p.m. ET on Monday, May 13. This non-competitive supplement will increase access to high-quality integrated behavioral health services, including prevention or treatment of mental health conditions and/or substance use disorders (SUDs), including opioid use disorder (OUD).

340B Drug Pricing Program Requirements HRSA Health Center Program Operational Site Visits no longer require an onsite review of 340B Drug Pricing Program requirements. HRSA uses other methods to ensure integrity, including working directly with health centers.
In order to participate in the 340B Drug Pricing Program, health centers must continue to enroll and comply with all program requirements. If you have questions about complying with requirements, please contact the 340B Prime Vendor Program.
Developing a Future Health Center Performance Management Approach HRSA is exploring a future value-based performance approach for the Health Center Program. The first step was to conduct an environmental scan and gather stakeholder input to identify opportunities and make recommendations for improving health center performance management.

HRSA’s Loan Guarantee Program Many health centers face challenges obtaining affordable loans for their capital projects and/or experience delays in securing loans. The HRSA Health Center Facility Loan Guarantee Program supports loans to eligible Health Center Program awardees for the construction/expansion, alteration/renovation, and modernization of health center medical facilities.
Congress appropriated funds in 2018, enabling HRSA to provide guarantees for almost $900 million in new loans to health centers. The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), a HRSA-funded National Cooperative Agreement (NCA), is hosting a live Q&A session featuring a representative from Capital Link, also a HRSA-funded NCA. Participants will learn about program eligibility and how funds can be used.

New HRSA “Ending the HIV Epidemic” Webpage During the 2019 State of the Union address, the Trump administration announced the new “Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America.” This will be a ten-year initiative beginning in FY 2020 to achieve the important goal of reducing new HIV infections to less than 3,000 per year by 2030. HRSA’s Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program and Health Center Program will play a leading role in helping diagnose, treat, prevent, and respond to end the HIV epidemic. 2019 UDS Reporting Changes TA HRSA presents a TA webinar that will provide an overview of the changes for calendar year (CY) 2019 UDS data collection and reporting activities for reports submitted by February 15, 2020. We will also discuss possible changes for 2020 UDS and revised clinical measures resulting from continued alignment with electronic specified clinical quality measures. Promising Practices in Behavioral Health Workforce Planning Experts from the University of Michigan, the University at Albany-SUNY, and the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU), a HRSA-funded NCA, will share promising practices and resources focused on behavioral health workforce planning, recruitment, and retention. MAT 101: Evidence-Based Practices in SUD Treatment Experts from the HRSA-supported University of California San Francisco Clinician Consultation Center’s Substance Use Warmline will share evidence-based practices and resources on medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for patients with SUD. They will discuss the MAT model from assessment and induction to management and monitoring, provide case-based examples, and answer provider questions about patient considerations during a 30-minute question and answer session.

Using Health Information Technology to Enhance Opioid Use Disorder Treatment: Webinar Recording Available The Health Information Technology, Evaluation, and Quality Center (HITEQ), a HRSA-funded NCA, hosted a webinar on promising and innovative practices for the use of health information technologies (HIT) to enhance OUD treatment. Watch a recording if you missed it. The discussion focused on how various HIT practices and tools, including electronic health records and prescription drug monitoring programs, can be used to enhance OUD services and specifically MAT. The webinar also featured the experiences and practices of health centers which are using HIT to enhance OUD services.

Join an 8-month Primary Care Team-Based Care Learning Collaborative Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC), a HRSA-funded NCA, invites health centers to join a team-based care learning collaborative designed to provide transformational strategies and coaching support to help health center primary care practices implement or advance a model of team-based care. Participation will include a series of video conference learning sessions with 10-12 primary care teams across the country, quality improvement training, weekly coach mentoring provided by CHC’s certified coach mentors, and access to web-based resources. NHSC Scholarship Program Eligible health profession students can receive payment for tuition, fees, and other educational costs, as well as a living stipend. In exchange, they serve at least two years at NHSC-approved sites in underserved rural, urban, and tribal communities. Applications are due Thursday, May 16. National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week May 7-13 The Bright Futures Programs, a HRSA-supported initiative, offers recommendations for screening and assessment tools that health care professionals can use to detect, prevent and coordinate care for children experiencing mental health issues.

Hepatitis C and the Cure
Robert Gish, a physician and leader in clinical research on viral hepatitis, will discuss the role of primary care providers in treating and curing chronic hepatitis C. Dr. Gish serves as consulting faculty at La Maestra Community Health Services, a HRSA-funded health center in San Diego, and was featured as a speaker on HRSA’s Perinatal Hepatitis B ECHO.

Maternal Mortality Webinar HRSA will host a maternal mortality webinar next month focused on federal projects, clinical research, and available resources to improve maternal mortality rates. HRSA will review agency-level projects and funding. CDC, along with the Illinois Department of Public Health, will discuss their work to create or improve Maternal Mortality Reviews. Sarosh Rana, MD, MPH, will discuss her experience as a high-risk pregnancy provider and preeclampsia researcher.
