What's New
HUD Policy Brief on Data Matching – Understanding the Impact and Potential for Health Centers Corporation for Supportive Housing, a HRSA-funded National Cooperative Agreement (NCA), published a new HUD policy brief. Health centers are increasingly addressing the social determinants of health for their patient population through partnerships and linkages to local housing and service resources. Many resources exist through partner federal, state, and mainstream infrastructures that should be part of a health center’s “toolbox” to aid in linking patients to local housing. Matching data from the homeless crisis response system to claims data from health centers is one way to identify and engage individuals in both systems who are experiencing homelessness and are medically vulnerable. Health centers can be key partners in linking eligible individuals who are experiencing homelessness to sustainable affordable housing and in providing integrated care.
NIH HEAL (Helping to End Addiction Long-termSM) Initiative Funding Opportunity The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) at NIH published an announcement that focuses on improving treatments for opioid misuse and addiction, a HEAL research priority area.
To test the effectiveness of combining behavioral interventions, which can include complementary health approaches, with medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD), NCCIH has issued “Behavioral Research to Improve MAT: Behavioral and Social Interventions to Improve Adherence to Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorders” (RFA-AT-19-006). This funding opportunity announcement is meant to study whether interventions such as mindfulness meditation, cognitive behavioral therapy, or multi-disciplinary rehabilitation improve adherence to MAT, improve MAT outcomes, and reduce relapse in individuals seeking treatment for OUD. Apply by 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, February 8.
