Recruitment
and Retention
In
her role as the Director of Marketing and Recruitment at Hidalgo Medical
Services (HMS), a Federally
Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Silver City, New Mexico, Kathy-Lyn Allen
Pacheco manages communications and marketing activities for the organization and
is responsible for ongoing provider recruitment for four service lines
(medical, dental, mental health and family support).
She is keenly aware that sharing HMS’ narrative empowers the community and
often inspires primary care clinicians to become a part of the solution. Kathy-Lyn
became a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Ambassador last spring and is committed
to spreading the word about NHSC resources and programs.
Kathy
Lyn states that, “My participation as an NHSC Ambassador provides me the
opportunity to continually learn and network, while helping to promote our FQHC’s
services and best practices throughout the larger healthcare community.” She continues
to expand HMS clinician recruitment efforts through promoting and participating
on NHSC Virtual Job Fairs (VJFs). Since 2016, Kathy Lyn has found the VJFs to
be an excellent tool for HMS recruitment, resulting in the successful hiring of
some of their most recent providers.
She
enjoys her role as a NHSC Ambassador and finds great value in the specialized
training webinars and other resources available through the NHSC. Kathy-Lyn plans to continue to support ongoing
NHSC activities while becoming more involved this year.
As a 14-time NCAA Division I All-American
swimmer (Auburn University), Kathy-Lyn’s personal commitment to excellence and desire to
effectively lead a team has helped her to succeed as a healthcare
communications and recruitment professional over the past 15 years. She recommends that other
NHSC Ambassadors share ideas with their peers regularly and continue to utilize
the “innovative tools available to NHSC Ambassadors.”
