Reminder! Pay and Leave Guidance for Christmas and New Year's Day Holidays
As a reminder, before you leave the office for an extended vacation, please remember to submit your timesheets ahead of time, covering your absence.
Christmas will be observed (and GSA offices closed) on Monday, December 25, 2023, and New Year’s Day will be observed (and GSA offices closed) on Monday, January 1, 2024.
-
Full-time employees scheduled to work will be excused from duty and paid for both holidays. Employees should annotate time reporting code “002 - Holiday Observed.” The “Additional TRC” field should be left blank.
-
Full-time employees not scheduled to work on these holidays are eligible for substitute “in-lieu-of holidays.” For these two holidays, the in-lieu-of holidays are the scheduled work days immediately preceding the holiday. For most full-time employees, the in-lieu-of holidays will therefore be observed on Friday, December 22, 2023 and Friday, December 29, 2023.
Timesheet Submission Deadline: For employees who will be out of the office Christmas week (i.e. from Christmas to New Years), there is a timekeeping deadline between these two holidays. For this pay period, employees should enter their time early for supervisory approval, before they leave on vacation, but no later than Friday, December 29th by the close of business. Supervisors must approve timecards for this pay period within HR Links no later than Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern, which is the cutoff for all timesheet approvals for this pay period. Supervisors on annual leave during this Christmas week should delegate their time and leave responsibilities to another supervisor within HR Links.
If you have any questions, please contact your local timekeeper. You can also contact the Timekeeping Help-Desk.
