FPDS.gov Decommissions on February 24, 2026
GSA, General Services Administration (External) sent this bulletin at 02/09/2026 10:23 AM EST
As part of its ongoing systems modernization effort, GSA will decommission the ezSearch function within FPDS.gov on February 24, 2026. All ezSearch functionalities can now be found on SAM.gov. More information can be found at https://sam.gov/fpds.
GSA has been migrating FPDS.gov functionality to SAM.gov since 2020 and moved the ezSearch functionality in July 2025. After Feb 24, ezSearch will no longer be available in FPDS.gov, and SAM.gov will be the only authoritative location for users to search for information about federal contracts.
Users can now search contract awards data via the contracting search feature with a SAM.gov account. Users must have a SAM.gov account and can create one using Login.gov. For users who prefer not to create an account in SAM.gov, the data will still be available for the general public on USASpending.gov.
While the search function currently exists in both systems (until Feb 24), users should now use SAM.gov exclusively when searching for contract information. SAM.gov is currently the authoritative source for information about federal contracts.
Contract awards data in SAM.gov is the authoritative source for government procurement data, mostly used for policy and trend analysis. Search results contain publicly available information about all unclassified contract actions exceeding the micro-purchase threshold and any modifications to those actions that change previously reported data, regardless of dollar value.
All of the data that was previously available in FPDS.gov is now available in SAM.gov.
With the migration of contract awards data search in SAM.gov, we also made some improvements to the functionality, including:
-
Creating effective navigation between Contract Opportunities, Contract Awards and Subaward Reporting records.
-
Offering the user priority search filters in SAM’s known user experience
-
Developing Pickers (drop-down lists) for search filters, a functionality that does not exist in FPDS.gov.
-
Developing search filters to be more intuitive and to allow partial searches which do not exist in FPDS.gov.
In addition, the FPDS ATOM Feed has been replaced with the SAM.gov Contract Awards API (specifications in open.gsa.gov) and will be retired this coming summer. We advise users to begin using the API today to test and update their consumption methods as necessary. There’s no need to wait.
We’ll be providing additional training resources for contract awards search later this month and for the SAM.gov Contract Awards API in July. Please check Interact or sam.gov/fpds for updates.
