Summer 2024 Updates
This past summer, the Green Procurement Compilation page has had multiple significant updates, including:
-
Answers to FAQs. The About GPC now includes answers to frequently asked questions.
-
Aligned with FAR Part 23. The Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) was updated on May 22, 2024, as a result of the Sustainable Procurement final rule. The Green Procurement Compilation terms, references, and purchasing programs now align with the recent changes in the final rule. Review the About GPC page for more details.
-
FAR requirements updated. The FAR Requirements tab for each product now aligns with the new FAR changes.
-
Easily identify federal requirements from best practices. The FAR changes include a new definition for Sustainable Products and Services. As a result of this change, we moved the environmental purchasing programs and optional green practices that are not identified in the FAR requirements from the Product Details in the Green Procurement Compilation to a new page, Sustainable Procurement Strategies, making it easy to distinguish the FAR requirements from other federal programs and best practices in sustainable acquisition.
-
Reflects the EPA Recommendations with sufficient product availability. The FAR requires the use of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Recommendations of Specifications Standards and Ecolabels for Federal Purchasing to the maximum extent practicable. The EPA Recommendations must have at least three conforming products from at least two suppliers to be listed on the Green Procurement Compilation for competition purposes.
-
Improved search results. Search now looks beyond a product name to search the product definition too!
-
Updated product categorization. We refreshed the Green Procurement Compilation categories to make them easier to find. Several category names changed to make it easier to identify applicable products, for example, Furniture and Fixtures is now its own category, no longer listed under Building Furnishings.
