Sustainable procurement plays a critical role in reducing the severity of future climate change by providing federal agencies with sustainable products and services. This issue of the Sustainable Facilities Tool (SFTool) Newsletter highlights the latest updates to our Green Procurement Compilation (GPC) and other Procurement Resources.

The Green Procurement Compilation (GPC)  landing page has been updated to include new procurement resources and a new About GPC page. Additionally, GPC now includes the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA)’s Design for the Environment Ecolabels and updated guidance and language for EPA’s Recommendations of Specifications, Standards, and Ecolabels.

SFTool Product Search: We’ve updated GSA’s best-in-class search and reporting tool that simplifies sustainable product procurement for vendors and buyers with new Ecolabel and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) filters. Use SFTool Product Search to discover and document over 5,300 brands and more than 200,000 products that align with federal sustainability requirements.

Buyer Resources: This new page features several sustainable acquisition tools and resources most relevant to buyers. “Using Acquisition Lifecycle Tools”, formerly housed under the Plan section, is now available on this page and provides procurement planning materials that align with each phase of the acquisition lifecycle. You can also view available training, policy and guidance related to federal procurement.

Vendor Resources: Vendors can now access a number of sustainability and climate related resources through this new GPC page that points to vendor-specific tips and tools, sustainable requirements and related Executive Orders, training resources and guidance on how to position acquisition activities to meet specific federal requirements. We’ve also included Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and Sustainability and Climate Risk Management guidance.

SFTool Strategies to Ensure Successful Delivery of Sustainable Products and Services: This new resource within the Using Acquisition Lifecycle Tools section provides sample acquisition contract language and helps to verify compliance with contract sustainability requirements. View Pre-Award Strategies and Post-Award Strategies for specifying and verifying sustainable products that go beyond federal requirements.

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Management Training for Federal Contractors: Find out more about federal GHG management with this free online workshop. View all three modules to learn more about covering federal policy, GHG inventory development, and GHG emissions reduction.
