Travelers expect the travel industry to react to new trends and emerging technologies. As a result, lodging providers are striving to make their accommodations more comfortable, more personalized, and feel more like home. At FedRooms, we work to provide a range of lodging options for our travelers.
We have added some exciting new properties to the FedRooms program in 2019 that offer apartment-style living with all the comforts of home. These are residential buildings with modern, furnished apartments available for one night or multi-night stays, just like a traditional hotel. Booking is as easy as making an online reservation through your agency’s booking tool, and checking in with the building concierge or host team upon arrival. All the information you need is sent directly to your preferred e-mail.
Two brands with new, apartment-style properties in the FedRooms program are Churchill Living and Why Hotels. At Churchill Living, the furnished apartments include amenities like state of the art gyms, 24-hour customer service and in-unit washer/dryers. At Why Hotels, a pop-up hotel brand in new buildings, guests have access to a lounge with a 24/7 host, breakfast/social hour food and beverage options and more. Each luxury apartment is equipped with everything you need, from towels to utensils plus in-unit washer/dryers and access to the building fitness centers.
These FEMA-approved properties can be a great choice for any traveler, but particularly for those who prefer more space with access to a full kitchen and in-unit laundry services. Next time you travel, consider one of these unique properties and enjoy all that comes with a home away from home at rates that are less than or equal to per diem. You can now look for properties in Arlington, VA and Washington DC and later this year in Tysons Corner, VA and Los Angeles, CA.
In addition to these new highlighted properties, visit the traveler page of FedRooms.com for a list of additional Long Term Lodging (LTL) options, or visit the GSA LTL schedule for a full list of properties.
Add-on fees are becoming increasingly more prevalent in the hotel industry today, particularly in markets that are popular for leisure travel. To keep published rates attractive, hotels may offer a lower upfront rate to travelers, and then use mandatory add-on fees to make up for lost revenue. The extra fees often apply to items that travelers would expect to be included with the price of the room.
Common additional add-on fees may include the in-room safe, resort, health club, fax/printing, concierge and urban destination fees. Whether the traveler uses these amenities or not, these fees are mandatory and cannot be avoided.
Our FedRooms rate guarantees that travelers will not be charged mandatory add-on fees. The room rate you see upon booking is the rate you will be charged.
Booking FedRooms also ensures travelers will receive:
Rates at or below per diem
No early check-out fees
Complimentary in-room Wi-Fi
Cancellation policy of 4:00 p.m. day or arrival or later (domestic) and no more than 24 hours (international)
Avoid unwanted surprises on your bill by always booking the FedRooms rate through your approved booking channel or FedRooms.com when policy allows.

Upon checking in to a hotel, travelers are often asked to provide photo identification to gain access to their room. The hotel staff may then attempt to make a photo copy of the ID for their records. While this is a common practice, travelers should not allow any personnel to make photocopies of a military ID or common access card. Doing so is against the law and can result in fines or more serious repercussions.
It is okay to present such identification to verify your military or government status, but if the service provider asks to make a copy, use your state driver’s license or another form of photo ID instead. Official IDs are often targeted for counterfeiting and can even be used to plan threats against the military.
Keep in mind that this photocopying law does not apply to government agencies performing official business, or to medical establishments that need copies for insurance purposes. For more information on this law, visit DoD Live.
