What's New in FedRooms for 2017?

The New Year is almost here, bringing exciting new updates to our FedRooms program to better serve our travelers in 2017. One of our exciting features to come in 2017 is complimentary Wi-Fi at all FedRooms properties. For travelers who book the FedRooms rate, you are guaranteed free Wi-Fi regardless of whether or not the property normally charges an additional fee for internet service. According to the GBTA Foundation, 93% of travelers find free Wi-Fi very or somewhat valuable, followed by free breakfast and early check-in. 

In 2017, we will also uphold our FedRooms rate guarantee with rates at or below per diem, a 4 p.m. or later cancellation policy (24 hours for international properties) and no hidden fees. Many of our properties will offer complimentary parking and breakfast, depending on where you book. Loyalty points will continue to be earned for your qualifying stay, so check out our loyalty program's page to enroll in the program that best suits your needs if you have not already signed up.

Earn Hotel Points While Shopping

Shopping for friends, family and colleagues for the holidays? Earn hotel points for your purchases through many of our FedRooms hotel partners!

Choice Privileges is offering a new and improved shopping experience at its online mall, with over 900 retailers offering points for purchases. Through the online mall, shoppers will earn at least one point per dollar spent at each store. Hilton HHonors also has a Shop-To-Earn mall, where you can shop or dine with key retail and restaurant partners to earn points. IHG Rewards Club members can earn points by purchasing goods and services with a number of different hotel partners.

Skip the Lines When Traveling Internationally

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently launched the first authorized app to expedite a traveler’s entry process into the United States. The app is free and involves only four simple steps for activation:

1. Before your trip, download the app and set up your profile information as it appears on your official passport, which will be encrypted and shared only with CBP. Once a traveler sets up a profile, it can be reused with ease for future trips. 
2. Answer a few brief questions about your trip.
3. On your return flight, submit the information to CBP, who will then send you a receipt with an encrypted barcode that will be valid for 4 hours. 
4. Skip the line and save time by following the “MOBILE PASSPORT CONTROL” signs when you land.

These quick steps will allow you to bypass the normal security lines and clear customs faster. The app is now available for use in over 20 major US airports.
