Reminder: USDA’s 2025 Agricultural Outlook Forum
As announced in last week’s Constituent Update, USDA is hosting its 101st Agricultural Outlook Forum (AOF), “Meeting Tomorrow’s Challenges Today,” February 27-28 in Arlington, Va. Interested parties are invited to register for the forum to attend. All sessions will be livestreamed and there is no charge for attending the event virtually.
FSIS’ session, “Food Safety in Modern Supply Chains,” will take place on February 28, 10-11:30 a.m. ET. The session will explore the complexities of our food supply chains and how they can impact food safety. See the AOF's Program at a Glance for information about sessions by other USDA agencies. FSIS and other agencies will also be at the on-site exhibit hall and have information in a virtual exhibit booth.
FSIS Posts Updates to Establishment-Specific Datasets
FSIS updated the following establishment-specific laboratory sampling datasets to account for missing data in the previously published datasets.
- Egg Product Sampling
- Raw Poultry Product Sampling
- Raw Beef Product Sampling
- Ready-to-Eat Product Sampling
FSIS publicly releases datasets on laboratory sampling results and updates these datasets quarterly and annually. Laboratory sampling datasets are broken out by fiscal year (FY), which starts on October 1 of a year and ends on September 30 of the subsequent year. For example, FY 2014 spans October 1, 2013, through September 30, 2014, and so on. These datasets begin with samples from FY 2014 (starting on October 1, 2013) through the most recent FY. The most recent FY dataset is updated on a quarterly basis, while all earlier FY files are updated annually.
Today, FSIS updated the Import Presented Refused and Import Refusal Reason datasets on the Import and Export Data page. The Import Presented Refused dataset includes lot-level information for import volume along with import refusal data at the lot-level. The Import Refusal Reason is provided as a secondary dataset, providing each refusal reason as its own row to facilitate analysis.
The Import Presented Refused and Import Refusal Reason datasets are updated monthly and will be posted the third Friday of each month, with data broken out by fiscal year (FY), starting with data from FY 2014 (starting on October 1, 2013) through the most recent FY. These datasets are released in an open, non-proprietary csv format. Instructions on how to open csv files using Excel are available on the FSIS website in the Comma Separated Values Guide section.
