With many school systems closed to help limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is working to make sure no child goes hungry. Given the current health crisis, USDA has issued a nationwide waiver that allows local Child Nutrition Program operators to distribute meals and snacks to parents and guardians to give to their eligible child. USDA has extended the deadline to apply for a Team Nutrition Training Grant for School Meal Recipe Development. State agencies that administer the School Meals programs have until May 27, 2020 to submit their applications through Grants.gov.
