April is National Financial Capability Month, and the FDIC offers several resources to help educate and protect consumers. Here are a few ways to connect with us and our community partners across the country this month and throughout the year:
How Money Smart Are You?
This suite of 14 self-paced online games is the newest addition to the FDIC’s Money Smart product family and now available in English and Spanish for anyone to access. Organizations can also use this financial education tool in conjunction with webinars or workshops using other Money Smart products. We encourage organizations to post a link to How Money Smart Are You? on their websites. #MoneySmart

To learn how to become a Money Smart trainer in your community, search for train-the-trainer events. You can also sign up for our monthly newsletter, Money Smart News, for helpful tips, and join our Money Smart Alliance to get early access to new materials!

#GetBanked
Learn about our ongoing campaign, which encourages unbanked consumers to #GetBanked and open a checking or savings account at an FDIC-insured institution. The FDIC is working to reach unbanked consumers, particularly during the tax filing season, when they can benefit from early and direct deposit of their refund.
Through #GetBanked, the FDIC offers consumers a wealth of resources to help them choose the best account to meet their needs, including guidance on how they can find low-cost bank accounts. Our comprehensive #GetBanked social media toolkit (available in English and Spanish) will help you join the conversation online.

The FDIC is holding several webinars around the country during National Financial Capability Month on a wide range of topics. Find one near you and join us.
How America Banks
Since 2009, the FDIC has measured banked and unbanked populations in the U.S. and studied household use of banking and financial products and services. How America Banks is the most comprehensive analysis of its kind. Learn more about our data and findings here.
Alliance for Economic Inclusion
The FDIC encourages engagement at the local level to connect people with partners and resources in their communities, through its Alliance for Economic Inclusion (AEIs). There are currently 11 coalitions working to promote the widespread availability and use of safe, affordable, and sustainable financial products. Community groups and financial institutions looking to learn more are encouraged to reach out to the AEI in their region.

We often get asked: How do I know if a financial institution is backed by FDIC deposit insurance? When in doubt, check Bank Find to identify or locate FDIC-insured banking institutions.
Deposit Insurance
Since 1933, no depositor has ever lost a penny of FDIC-insured funds. Today, the FDIC insures up to $250,000 per depositor per FDIC-insured bank account in the unlikely event of a bank failure.
