FAI Earns the Bronze!!

FAI was honored by the Omni Awards Fall 2019 contest with a Bronze Award for its production of the Procurement Innovation Lab (PIL) Primer. The PIL Primer was the only Government submission that was honored with an award. Featuring presenters from the Department of Homeland Security's Procurement Innovation Lab, it provides an overview of methods used by DHS to change the agency’s procurement culture. Developed for the federal civilian acquisition workforce, this introductory video series outlines eight proven techniques to improve procurement outcomes and fuel cultural change in federal agencies. The condensed format summarizes key concepts from the all-day, intensive, PIL Boot Camp workshop. The video series is supplemented with a workbook, which includes exercises for learners to practice the techniques for successful procurement culture change. The Omni Awards exist to recognize outstanding achievements in film/video, website, and mobile apps.

TAG You're It! Dept of Labor Issues Construction Industry Technical Assistance Guide

In November 2019, U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) released a comprehensive Technical Assistance Guide (TAG) for the construction industry, designed to assist federal construction contractors in meeting their Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) requirements and responsibilities. The guide also contains helpful tips and best practices to prevent violations from occurring. This is important to contracting officers because FAR Subpart 22.8 - Equal Employment Opportunity requires contracting officers to insert provisions for EEO in solicitations for construction contracts under specific conditions.

Document Your Contracting Experience!

The FAC-C Program has requirements for education, training, and experience for civilian contracting professionals. The education and training requirements are clear, but the experience piece is not as straightforward. OFPP’s FAC-C Refresh memo, issued in 2014, encouraged agencies to ensure that the contracting workforce not only spends the right amount of time on the job, but to ensure that a significant amount of breadth and depth of experience was obtained to strengthen their skills and capabilities. The Federal Acquisition Institute’s (FAI’s) 1102 Experience Development Tool provides a new way for 1102s to document their experiences on the job as they grow and move throughout their career. Download the tool today and start documenting your on-the-job experiences!
