FAI Instructor-Led Training for FY2020
FAI has added an incredible array of FAC-C, FAC-COR, FAC-P/PM, and continuous learning instructor-led training for FY2020 via online and in the classroom. This link lists all class offerings for which there are seats available. Along with the courses necessary for certification, course offerings now include new subjects from FAI such as Cybersecurity for Contracting Professionals, Intermediate Agile Techniques for Contracting Professionals, Information Technology Acquisition, Advanced COR, COR Refresher, and Agile Project Management for the Federal Environment.

New Mandatory Class Added to FAC-C Level I
Effective October 1, 2019, OFPP has added a new mandatory course, FCL-CM-2500 Category Management 101, for FAC-C Level I. This course is currently being offered through a one hour instructor-led webinar and is available for sign up in FAITAS. While this course is mandatory for FAC-C Level I, it is also strongly encouraged for all other acquisition workforce members. A new OFPP policy memo will not be issued for this change; all changes to the FAC-C training requirements will continue to be maintained on FAI.gov.

Introducing the New Contracting Professional’s Career Roadmap Tool
FAI has released a new tool for new Contracting Professionals, the Contracting Professional’s Career Roadmap. This tool will provide newer 1102s with a guide to getting started in the career field. It provides a framework for the career, including gaining a basic understanding of the acquisition process, the competencies and mandatory training required, guidelines for selecting and working with a mentor, guidelines for goal setting and best practices for documenting experiences on the job. New Contracting Professionals should work through the steps and the “to-do lists” early in their professional career with the guidance of their supervisor and/or mentor.

FAI has released the 1102 Experience Development Tool which will assist Contracting Professionals with identifying and documenting experience in the most common 1102 job tasks, creation of contractual documents, acquisition strategies and contract types in an effort to gain a depth and breadth of experience in the career field.
