Updating Product Service Codes

The Federal Acquisition Institute (FAI) is facilitating acquisition workforce awareness for changes applicable to the Product Service Codes (PSC) process. The federal government uses more than 3,000 PSCs to describe the different types of products and services purchased by the federal government. These codes are reported to a variety of federal systems, including agencies’ contract writing systems, the Federal Procurement Data System – Next Generation (FPDS-NG) and other Integrated Award Environment (IAE) systems, USAspending, and other industry systems. PSCs are instrumental for reporting and critical for government leadership to understand the dollar spent for specific products or services.

PPIRS Officially Merges with CPARS

On Tuesday, January 15, 2019, the Past Performance Information Retrieval System (PPIRS.gov) and its data were officially merged into the Contract Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS.gov), making CPARS the official system for past performance information. This merge will simplify functions such as making changes to administering users, as well as creating, editing, viewing, and managing performance and integrity records and reports. Users going to PPIRS.gov will be automatically redirected to CPARS.gov. The PPIRS name will temporarily remain in the FAR until it is changed. Contact the CPARS Desk at WEBPTSMH@navy.mil with any questions.
