DoL/OFCCP Issues Temporary FAR Clause Waiver for Wildfires and Earthquake

In light of the devastation created by the California Wildfires and the Alaska Earthquake, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) has issued a temporary exemption from certain FAR contracting requirements as follows: 1) The California Wildfires exemption period runs from November 19, 2018 to February 19, 2019; 2) The Alaska Earthquake exemption period runs from December 3, 2018 to March 3, 2019. These exemptions might be extended by OFCCP.  For the period of the exemption, new Federal contracts to provide relief efforts should contain a provision exempting the contractor from having to develop written affirmative action programs as required by Executive Order 11246; The Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act; and Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.
