Dear FAA Colleagues,
Earlier today, you received an email from Phil McNamara, Assistant Secretary for Administration at the Department of Transportation (DOT) regarding the COVID-19 vaccination requirement and the deadline for all DOT Federal employees to comply with this requirement. The email outlined specific dates that employees must receive their first and second doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or the date to receive the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine in order to meet the mandated deadline. If you are unvaccinated, please refer to the DOT email message for these dates.
All FAA employees must be fully vaccinated by November 22, 2021, including employees who do not report to the worksite. This requirement applies to all employees except in limited circumstances where the law requires an exception.
Employees are allowed to receive required COVID-19 vaccination doses during their regular duty hours. However, you must request time in advance of your vaccination appointment and coordinate this time with your manager, providing as much notice as practicable.
The Agency has issued notice of this government-wide vaccination requirement to the labor unions. And we will bargain over the impact and implementation of issues not otherwise addressed in the guidance, policy, or collective bargaining agreements.
The safety and well-being of the FAA workforce continues to be our top priority. I urge you to please plan ahead in getting your vaccination(s) and work with your manager as necessary.
The attestation process (https://attest.faa.gov) remains in place for non-bargaining unit employees/positions and for bargaining unit employees/positions, except where the applicable collective bargaining agreement contains conflicting provisions or the subject has not been negotiated.
In Partnership,
Annie B. Andrews Assistant Administrator for Human Resource Management
