Submitting an End-of-Year Self-Assessment
All of your employees, whether covered by the Pass/Fail (P/F) Program or Valuing Performance (VP) Program, are afforded the opportunity of providing a self-assessment before the Final Rating/Assessment is completed. Although optional in both programs, self-assessments are highly encouraged for all FAA employees. We encourage the employees to not only submit a self-assessment but also track their accomplishments, contributions, and overall performance during the year.
During October, you will develop an End-of-Year (EOY) Final Rating for each employee, hopefully, you will have some self-assessments to assist you. In many work units, an accurate & comprehensive self-assessment has become more and more important because many employees are working remotely due to the Pandemic and the day-to-day impromptu discussions between you and your employees may not be as frequent.
Key Note for VP Managers & Employees You must have the self-assessment completed or in DRAFT in VPS by September 30 at 6pm EST. This is when VPS is taken out of service for 2 to 3 days for FY transitional preparation tasks. If your self-assessment is in DRAFT you will be able to finish it after VPS is returned to service. If your self-assessment is not completed or in DRAFT, you will have to submit it to your supervising manager by way of an external document. The supervising manager will then have to upload the self-assessment document to ensure it is included in the FY21 performance planning documents.
Here are some useful resources to help you and your employees develop a self-assessment:
Per the schedule below, we will be conducting four (4) Self-Assessment webinars this month. The topics will include a presentation of key self-assessment features and a Self-Assessment Demonstration in PMAS and VPS.
