EPA Releases Chemical Screening Data on 1,800 Chemicals
U.S. EPA Office of Research and Development sent this bulletin at 12/17/2013 05:03 PM ESTToday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released new Toxicity Forecaster (ToxCast) high-throughput data on 1,800 chemicals that have been screened in 700+ high-throughput screening assays. The data are accessible through the new interactive Chemical Safety for Sustainability or iCSS Dashboard and the complete data set can be downloaded from the ToxCast data website. As part of this data release, EPA announced ToxCast Data Challenges, a series of challenges available through TopCoder and InnoCentive, inviting the science and technology community to work with the data and provide ideas for how the new chemical screening data can be used to predict the lowest effect level dose in animal studies. EPA is hosting stakeholder workshops, beginning with a January 14 workshop in Research Triangle Park, NC to discuss data features, functionality, accessibility and analysis. In addition to the January workshop, there will be a ToxCast Phase II workshop in April and a data summit in May. Be sure to register today to participate in the January 14, 2014 workshop.
