Apply Today: Building Energy Codes Program Is Hiring for Two GS-12 Interdisciplinary General Engineer / Physical Scientist Term Technical Project Officer (TPO) Positions!


The Building Energy Codes Program in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Office is now accepting applications from highly qualified candidates who are eager to contribute to the advancement of building energy codes!

DOE’s Building Energy Codes Program supports the advancement of national model energy codes, including the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and Standard 90.1, as well as the successful implementation of energy codes across states and local governments. The program is looking for experienced candidates for GS-12/13-0801/1301 positions who can help expand our team; coordinate and manage projects and budgets; interface with national labs and other key stakeholders; and contribute technical expertise. This will help DOE fulfill its assigned statutory objectives across its base programming, as well as support the implementation of over $225 million in federal funding for building energy codes under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

About the Building Technologies Office

The Building Technologies Office develops, demonstrates, and accelerates the adoption of cost-effective technologies, techniques, tools, and services to enable high-performing, energy-efficient, and demand-flexible residential and commercial buildings in support of an equitable transition to a decarbonized energy system by 2050. The office provides policy, management, and direction for a balanced program of technology planning, research, development, deployment, testing, analysis, evaluation, communication, and practices to make both residential and commercial buildings more efficient and affordable and make communities more livable. It is responsible for the formulation and execution of national energy policies and programs and is responsible for establishing priorities and maintaining balance among subprograms within the office. Building Energy Codes Program activities are a key component of the Building Technologies Office vision of a United States in which buildings use the minimum amount of energy required for occupant activities and comfort.
