Funding for Collaborative Research Announced

DOE has announced $9 million in funding through its new Bridging Research Interactions through collaborative Development Grants in Energy (BRIDGE) program. Applied research teams will be able to access the tools and staff expertise at existing DOE Office of Science research facilities so fundamental scientific discoveries can be rapidly transitioned to existing product lines and projects.

Evolution of 15% Standard Proposed

DOE, EPRI, Sandia, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory have released a technical report titled “Updating Interconnection Screens for PV System Integration” that evaluates the origins and usefulness of the 15% capacity penetration screen. The authors provide both short- and longer-term solutions that allow for increasing solar deployment levels in a safe and reliable manner.

New SunShot Resource Center Launches

The Solar Energy Resource Center contains nearly 200 DOE-funded information resources to help local and state governments implement best practices when deploying solar. This searchable database includes case studies, how-to guides, model rules and ordinances, webinars, and other tools that were created by DOE partners at local governments, national laboratories, and universities.
