Granholm Energy Codes 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Wednesday, July 21, U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm will deliver the keynote at the National Energy Codes Conference, hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), to announce a historic expansion of DOE resources to help states and local governments adopt and implement the latest and most valuable building energy codes. Secretary Granholm will discuss why strong building energy codes are vital instruments to combat the climate crisis, to build the clean energy economy, and to ensure the ensuing financial savings, energy benefits and employment opportunities reach every American household and business. Secretary Granholm will also challenge state and local governments to adopt the latest building codes and standards, as well as emphasize the importance of including every voice in the process of developing and updating codes, so that building capabilities and standards can evolve seamlessly with the rapid, and unstoppable transformation of the U.S. energy system.
