NTACT's CTE Perkins V Plan Collaboration Summit

The National Technical Assistance Center on Transition (NTACT) is excited to host a summit to support programs for transition-age students and the implementation of Perkins V plans. Intended participants are state-level agency personnel from special education, career and technical education (CTE), and vocational rehabilitation; and other state agencies, stakeholders, and local agency representatives with work relevant to the summit’s focus. The day-and-a- half summit will provide an opportunity for teams from states to operationalize Perkins V plans to provide access, equity, and inclusiveness for students with disabilities. The summit is being hosted in conjunction with the Association for Career & Technical Education's (ACTE’s) CareerTech Vision 2019 conference in Anaheim, California.

When: December 3 and 4

Where: ACTE’s CareerTech Vision 2019 Pre-Conference — Anaheim, California

Intended Participants

  • State-level agency personnel focused on secondary transition-age students (14–21 or older) in career and technical education, vocational rehabilitation, and special education
  • Other state agencies that support programming for transition-age students (e.g., mental health and developmental disabilities)
  • Local Education Agency representatives who support planning to implement Perkins V plans


  • Participants will work in state and local cross-disciplinary teams of special education, vocational rehabilitation, and career and technical education to develop a Perkins V implementation plan that
  • ensures students with disabilities have access to and can persist in CTE programs and curriculum;
  • fosters collaboration across building-level and agency partners;
  • outlines strategies for data sharing and data use; and
  • supports teachers and school professionals in providing students with disabilities high quality, differentiated instruction for 21st century employability skills.

OCTAE Seeks Deputy Assistant Secretary for Management and Planning

The Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of deputy assistant secretary for management and planning (DAS) for OCTAE. The DAS participates fully with the assistant secretary for OCTAE in the overall leadership, management, and direction of career-technical education, adult education, and community college initiatives. In addition to the duties listed in the notice hyperlinked below, the deputy assistant secretary oversees the management of the implementation of programs and priority initiatives of OCTAE.
