Testimonials from the GPA Program

Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad

“It’s important that we’re able to show our students other cultures in order for them to empathize and have more of a worldly view. African culture is already in the standard curriculum, but we’re going to be able to go deeper with it and show our kids through relics and stories and personal experience.”

- Participant in the 2015 Group Project Abroad to Ghana, Savannah State University

“It gives me a great sense of accomplishment. I think you can’t get that unless you experience a place or a culture. Not just a picture of it.”

- Participant in the 2014 Group Project Abroad to the Philippines, Northern Illinois University

“Teachers need to be afforded the chance to experience life in countries from which their students hail. When teachers are familiar with a student’s background, they are able to provide culturally relevant instruction.”

-St. John's University Education professor and organizer of the university's 2014 Group Project to India
