 This edition features stories of two awardees who are developing novel technologies through PHMSA Phase II SBIR awards to ensure safety during the transportation of different forms of hazardous materials.
QuakeWrap has developed a system to conduct no-dig repairs of small pipeline leaks and punctures by using automated guide vehicles that install "industrial stents" to repair pipelines from the inside.
And ESSPI has created smart storage technology to combat dangerous lithium-ion battery fires during battery transport, thorough smart containers that can detect and contain battery failures and alert drivers and first responders to an incident.
