Welcome to TERM Lite v2.1

Welcome to the Federal Transit Administration’s Transit Economic Requirements Model (TERM-Lite) users list. You are receiving this email because you signed up for email updates on TERM-Lite and FTA has made recent changes to TERM-Lite you may want to know about.

Specifically, FTA has just released an updated version of TERM Lite (v2.1), which can now be downloaded from FTA’s State of Good Repair (SGR) web site. Changes from v2.0 are specified below. Should you wish to migrate to this new version of TERM Lite, you will need to copy your inventory data into a v2.1 copy of the tool and also recalibrate the prioritization weights, inflation assumptions, and other model settings to match your agency's preferences.

Release Notes (v2.1 released October 25, 2013)

  • Added: 20-Year and 30-Year Analysis
  • Added: Target Seek - Set annual backlog targets and TERM-Lite will compute the required annual funding to reach this objective
  • Fixed: Compatibility issues experienced by some Users of MS Access 2007
  • Fixed: Calculation bug causing small discrepancies in future maintenance backlog

FTA will continue to send occasional emails to provide you with information on future updates to TERM-Lite and other related news.

TERM Lite

TERM Lite is an analysis tool designed to help agencies assess their:

  • State of Good Repair (SGR) backlog (total dollar value and asset type)
  • Level of annual investment to attain SGR or other investment objective
  • Impact of variations in funding on future asset conditions and reinvestment needs
  • Investment priorities - by mode and asset type

In order for your agency to use TERM-Lite, you will need MS Access 2007 or higher and an inventory of your capital assets. You can download an Excel based "Inventory Publisher" to transfer inventory data to TERM-Lite. For helpful hints on running TERM-Lite, please refer to the TERM-Lite user guide attached to this email.
